Norfolk is the largest county in East Anglia. It is a flat county, Norwich is the county town and a popular destination for a city break. The cathedral was started in 1096 and constructed of flint and limestone. Damage over the years caused parts of the cathedral to be rebuilt, but the building is much the same now as it was in the 1400's. The cobbled streets of Norwich lead to Cow Tower, which is an historic military tower built in the 14th century. Although the tower is closed to the public as the building is fragile, visitors can still walk around the outside.
Colman's of Norwich mustard was founded in 1814. Colman's is one of the oldest existing food brands and the Colman's mustard shop has a museum telling the story of how the mustard empire began.
Dragon Hall is a medieval building close to the river Wensum. It was originally used as a trading hall. It has a carved dragon on the roof.
King's Lynn is a sea port and market town. The custom house is one of the town's most famous landmarks, built in 1685. The building is no longer used by customs, but it houses the town's tourist information office. Red Mount chapel is in the centre of The Walks park. It was built in the 15th century and is unique and there is no other building of this shape. This curious looking landmark is open to the public.
The Norfolk Broads are a series of rivers and broads (lakes), most of which are navigable and the waterways cover 7 rivers and 63 broads. The majority are located in the northern half of Broadland. The Broads have always been a boating destination since it started in 1878 and tourists from all over the world visit here. It has been called Britain's magical waterland.
Great Yarmouth is a coastal town and has been a seaside resort for hundreds of years. For many years it was a major herring fishing port and the museum tells the history of this industry. There are many miles of sands stretching along the coastline.
