Whitwell Hall Country Centre is an educational activity centre that caters for schools and youth groups. One of the main activities at Whitwell Hall Country Centre is camping. Living in a camp environment among peers can enhance the social development of children of all ages. It is this social development that makes the camping experience an integral part of many organised youth groups and schools visit to the Centre. During the school holidays we open up the camping grounds to all users so that you can experience camping at Whitwell and its rich and peaceful countryside setting.

The 40 acre estate is separated into three campsites of different sizes. Instead of campers getting an individual pitch for their tent we hire the entirety of each site out to a group, meaning you get a lot more space than at most campsites. To book a campsite we require a minimum number of tents to be on site for the duration of your stay. This ranges from 3 large tents for our smallest site up to 7 large tents for our largest site. This makes Whitwell the ideal location for a large family or friendship group to spend some quality time together in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

A unique feature of the Centre is the provision of open fire pads on all campsites, covered by large 'A' frame shelters. Most groups using the campsites use the open campfire for all their cooking needs. There is also a large campfire circle on the estate where large numbers can gather and sit around a wonderful roaring campfire.

The Centre also provides a supply of firewood for each group for you to use during your stay. We can also provide cooking equipment, tents or even a fully catered package were we provide all the important equipment you would need as well as all the food for your stay.

If you enjoy 'real' camping with an open fire, in the setting of a historic countryside estate you will become enchanted with Whitwell Hall Country Centre and once you have found us we are sure you will want to come back again and again.

Reviews of Whitwell Hall Country Centre

Fantastic to find this site. I stayed at Whitwell in 1948 for two weeks and feel it changed my life from an insecure 8 year old to a confident young lad. In the following years I spent 4 weeks each summer at either Whitwell or two at Whitwell and two weeks in a rowing skiff on the Thames from Chertsey of hiking in Derbyshire. On two occasions I spent Christmas at Whitwell when they ran house parties. To this day I can carve a tent peg with a knife and use an axe properly as I was instructed so well. On reaching the age of 16 I joined the RAF and had no problem dealing with that regime after my years at FSC. Thank you all anf keep up the good work.

I am a long way from Whitewell Hall. In western Canada( vancouver Island)but I always from time to time would remember a holiday spent in the wilds of Norfolk many years ago I also thought FSC probably had gone the way of the dodo but imagine my delight on discovering that you are still alive & kicking!. the internet and google earth are amazing. I can remember cooking over open fires at Yew tree & fires & sing songs at waters meet, hikes in the countryside etc etc, glad to see you are still in business and the place looks as I remember it pretty well & I hope you wiil be around for a long time to come as I see it places like FSC are needed more than ever. Best Regards Mike.ps I am not at all concerned about my email address and would'nt mind a comment from FSC on my review
