Ling's Meadow is all about a slower pace of life - whether it be lying among the tall meadow grasses listening to bird song, or stargazing around an open fire. It is also a celebration of the great outdoors, where you can lose yourself in bug hunting, den building, kite flying and campfire cooking.

We are only able to accommodate up to twenty five guests at a time so the site is naturally quite quiet and has a relaxed, friendly and communal feel. As we are small the meadow is also perfect for groups of family or friends who would like to book the whole site for a get together. The campsite is surrounded by our 80 acre farm where we grow herbal leys, wild flower meadows and clover mixes for wildlife.

A stardome, pre-pitched bell tents and six camping pitches are set within a peaceful four acre natural meadow that is also visited by a barn owl, hares, deer and buzzards on a regular basis. They each have their own outdoor seating area and fire pit with tripod and hanging grill.

The light and airy 6m stardome sleeps up to five in a double bed, single bunks and two single futons. The stardome has its own wood burning stoves. Linen is provided but please bring towels. The StarDome is equipped with everything that you will need for your stay - from cooking equipment, cool boxes and a fire pit with grill to a selection of good books!

You could also choose to book a Slow camping base camp. The camp includes an empty bell tent with coir mat floor, a canvas tarp shelter, fire pit with hanging grill, picnic bench and outdoor cooking kit. We include a kindling rocket stove, kelly kettle and set of cast iron pans.

Each of the meadow tent pitches is set within its own cut grass circle and has enough space for a large family tent. The meadow is car free and a large area is left untouched to protect the local wildlife. Fire pits and picnic benches are provided at each pitch.

The campsite is very much off grid and has been lovingly developed with sustainability in mind. Two luxury composting toilets and a separate wood heated shower are provided in purpose built wooden pods. Water is recycled using marginal plants as natural filters and waste recycling facilities are available in the camp kitchen.

Campers have access to a timber framed camp kitchen and canvas dining tent. Also provided is a cycle shed with tool kit and local route information. Bikes to borrow.

Ling's Meadow is within walking distance of a popular farm shop and a local pub serving good food. National Cycle Network Route 13, Regional Route 30, the Wolf Way and the Rebellion Way run just a mile to the north of the campsite and the start of The Peddars Way walk is only 3 miles down the road.

The campsite is very centrally placed and is convenient for exploring Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Norwich. It is also only an hour's drive from the beautiful Suffolk and Norfolk coastlines, and 90 minutes by train or car from London.

Reviews of Ling's Meadow

This gem of a campsite was almost perfect, what a find! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting peace and quiet in a lovely, relaxed and friendly setting with eco-facilities. Yes it was a shame the solar hot water system isn't working efficiently yet - but Kath and Neel are determined to sort it out and for 3 nights the lack of hot water didn't matter to us at all. The compost toilets are very good - not quite as easy to use as ones that don't 'divide' the inputs, but really spacious, clean and not smelly at all. Kath and Neel were so welcoming and helpful and provide a delightful camping experience with some really thoughtful touches. The communal cooking/eating tent was brilliant and nice to sometimes congregate with other campers and be sociable. When we sat outside our own tent in it's mown circle we could hardly see over the top of the lovely meadow grasses, lovely! We really enjoyed the communal camp fire, cooking potatoes and sweetcorn on it for my partner's birthday celebration with other family too staying on site and some just visiting for the evening. We cycled there from Diss station along really peaceful lanes with great views, took 1.5 hours. Cycling around the area is great on quiet lanes and lots of bridleways, though these are easier with off road tyres. I'd love to go back and try out the bell tents, they looked really lovely. We wish Kath and Neel all the best and will definitely be back! Jo and Jay.

Just got home from 4 night stay with our kids (4,4 & 8). This was the first time camping with kids and we will definitely be back. It was amazing! Tent is lovely - warm at night and cool in day if you roll the sides up. Kitchen facilities better than some holiday cottages. Farm shop and local spar so well provisioned that no supermarket trip is needed. Good local pubs and American diner. Kath and Neel are really friendly and helpful. Facilities are spotless. Warmer shower would have been nice, but it is solar powered so we just used it in the afternoons. BBQ/fire pits by each tent and a communal one too. Meadow kept kids busy bug-hunting and looking for rabbits, etc. The only thing we really missed was our cat!

The campsite is so beautiful and peaceful. The bell tents are large and really nicely furnished and we had use of a fire pit where we cooked our dinner. The compost toilets aren't as daunting as they sound and are easy to use and very clean. The shower was cold, but it was 26 degrees so it was actually very pleasant! The nearby farmshop is excellent, they stock everything you could need to eat, fresh fruit and vegetables, lots of tasty meat, condiments, cheese, fresh bread, kindling wood and coal etc. I would highly recommend this place, I am very sad I had to return to leave and return to reality
