We arrived on a very windy early Saturday evening. We found the campsite easy to find. We found our names on the board at the entrance and proceeded to find our pitch. We were very quickly greeted by the owner who made us feel very welcome. When we said we were concerned about the wind she promptly directed us to another pitch which was sheltered by trees. We also mentioned that we were hoping to walk the Camel Trail and wanted to know about buses, within a few minutes the owner had returned with a bus time table which was helpful. In the end we drove to Padstow, left our car there and caught a bus to Dunmere then walked back. The following day we went into Bodmin and enquired at the Tourist board and found we could catch a bus in Bodmin which took us to the beginning of the trail at Wentfordbridge.
We also asked the owner where we could eat that evening, she suggested The Falcon which we found to be good and returned for another meal two evenings later.
The campsite is very clean, it gives the impression of a family run site where the staff want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. The two showers in the ladies toilet block were very clean and probably the largest that I have come across in many years of camping so there wasn't any problem with keeping clothes dry. My husband said the same was true in the gents.
Being close to the main road there was some road noise but this wasn't a problem for us.
When time came for us to leave, both the owners came to say goodbye and wish us a safe journey home. The lady attending the flower beds also knew we were leaving that day and said she hoped we had enjoyed our stay.
If we visit Cornwall again and want to camp in the area we wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Laurels again
The only reason I haven't given the site a 5 star is because there wasn't a shop but as Tesco's is only a very short car journey away that wasn't a problem so maybe I should have given it a 5 star but for some people that may be an issue.
We would be happy to recommend The Laurels to anyone.
