The town of Great Yarmouth has a long history of tourism and plays the part very well. The ‘Golden Mile’ stretches out between the two traditional piers with more than enough family entertainment to keep you busy. The Pleasure Beach leisure park is packed with fun rides to start the excitement and the Sea Life Centre offers a fascinating underwater experience. You can also play a round of adventure golf or visit the Merrivale Model Village before hitting the beach for an afternoon of relaxing on the sand.
Great Yarmouth also has an impressive maritime heritage and its well established fishing industry made it an important coastal destination in British history. There are plenty of significant landmarks around the town including the Heritage Quarter, Nelson Monument and Row Houses. Step back in time at the Time and Tide museum, and discover what life might have been like for 12th Century prisoner at the Tolhouse Museum.
Surrounding the town, the borough of Greater Yarmouth boasts plenty more glorious beaches, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The Norfolk Broads are home to some beautiful rural villages and a wonderful network of unspoilt waterways lined with riverside pubs and cafes. There are some fabulous walking routes in the area and activities to be enjoyed on the water including canoeing, stand up paddleboarding and windsurfing.
