Ideas For An Easter Weekend Family Camping Trip in Northern England

You do not always have to venture too far from home to enjoy a wonderful family camping adventure. This Easter, you could find family-friendly events in your region and find a campsite nearby for a long weekend of fun and frivolity that the whole family can enjoy. There is no shortage of events. To give you a head start in planning your Easter weekend family camping trip, here are just some of the events and attractions you could enjoy in Northern England:

One of the large events going on this year is the Easter Adventure Quest at Carlisle Castle, 14th-17th April. English Heritage sites, Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens, Tynemouth Priory, Richmond Castle, Whitby Abbey, and Scarborough Castle all also have Easter Adventure Quest events all Easter weekend. During one of these Easter adventure quests, history will come alive and families will get the chance to meet some famous historic characters, crack the clues and receive a chocolate reward.

For something a little out of the ordinary, take the kids to 'The Deep', where there are all sorts of Easter events going on between the 1st and the 23rd of April. You can meet loggerhead sea turtles and instead of hunting chicken eggs, you can join the turtle egg trail instead and even make your own turtles in the family crafting area. These are just some of the turtle-y amazing activities on offer.

Munster Castle in the western lakes area has a special offer this Easter weekend. Children who bring along their teddy bear can get free entry. There will be four days of teddy bear fun, culminating in the Muncaster Giant Easter Egg Hunt at 12.30pm on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. At Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston, the Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance over the Easter Weekend, while for traditional egg-rolling and Easter bonnet making events, Preston's Avenham and Miller parks could be the place to be.

If real animals are more to your liking, you can see lots of spring lambs at the Hawkshaw farm near Clayton-le-Dale, or Old Holly Farm – a working dairy farm with play barn at Cabus near Garstang. In Huddersfield,Yorkshire, there is an Easter Extravaganza at Stirley Farm and petting zoo fun can be had at Castle Howard.

Of course, these events are just the tip of the iceberg. There will be no difficulty in finding family-friendly Easter events wherever you choose to go for your family Easter weekend camping trip.
