Greenways Oxwich is a long established, family run Leisure Park at the heart of Britain's first designated area of outstanding natural beauty, the Gower Peninsula, South Wales.

Oxwich has a long reputation as a top beach & country holiday destination for families and couples looking for sun, sea, sand & adventure in glorious countryside surroundings. And we believe that Greenways Oxwich is the perfect base for such a camping holiday!

Our camping area at Greenways is spacious, spanning four fields, much of the area having panoramic views over Oxwich Bay & Three Cliffs Bay & over across Cefn Bryn common, and although we have ample space to do so, we do not usually accept group bookings, being very much a 'family and couples' orientated Leisure Park.

On-site facilities include a children's adventure playground, a family friendly lounge-bar and a recently refurbished amenity block with top quality shower rooms, laundry and wash room facilities with an eco-friendly (under floor) heating system running off an air source heat pump.

Oxwich Bay itself was voted one of the top ten beaches in the world by the travel magazine in 2007 and is a safe bay for bathing purposes due to it's gentle gradient. There are some 50 beaches, bays and coves on our small peninsula, yet Oxwich Bay has some of the finest coastal scenery the Gower has to offer.

Oxwich Bay has one of the largest beaches on Gower, with over two miles of golden sands and is used by all, attracting water & sports fanatics, sun-bathers, fishermen and families alike...

We hope to meet you at Greenways Oxwich on your next camping adventure!

Reviews of Greenways Leisure Park

Nice, clean park with helpful staff and fantastic location near to superb beach.
My gripes:
ice cream van driving around at 9p.m. blaring it's arrival not good when we have two small children who we put to bed earlier in the evening.Woke them up every night! If letting ice cream vans on the site, at least make it earlier or stop at the entrance/exit please!
Dogs! Barking! Need I say more? I know you can't control the dogs (or their owners) but we were woken every night by yapping which was very annoying.
Overall we thought this was a good base to explore the area.

Thank you for your honest review.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused by the ice-cream van, in all the years he has been coming to the site, this is the first such grievance, however we shall have a chat with him and ask him to come earlier or at least not to play his music up the fields at night. We try hard to keep the campsite a peaceful place and we vet our campers quite stringently and (at a substantial cost to out business) we do not allow groups of youngsters or stag & hen parties to camp here.

We are glad that you otherwise enjoyed your stay however and we hope you will join us again at Greenways!

Kind Regards,

James.
We are new comers to the camping world and having never camped before thought we would try a local campsite, one, to try assembling our huge 10 man tent for the first time and two, if we forgot anything we were close enough to drive home to get it!! We researched the website and after reading all the reviews we chose Greenways park for it's facilities, views, prices and size and i have to admit, we weren't dissapointed. We travelled as a family of 6, 4 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 9 and two cars when we arrived we were greeted at the office and booked in, the gentleman gave us some information on the park and told us that there were no particular pitches, so we could find our wn space and pitch up, and how lucky were we!!! When we arrived on sunday at 11am the campsite was quite so we picked a pitch in the top field with best view over the beach, the facilities were clean, the park was a godsend and our children made many friends and to be honest i didn't see them for the whole week we were there, the weather was fabulous and the park is safe to allow them their freedom. The park did get busy on the weekend and there were a few disrespectful campers who were quite noisy until 2am, but other than that no major problems, you can't really blame the owners for this it happens and the kids were so tired they soon dropped off to sleep. The shop is at the bottom of the hill and sells all the basics, it is a bit of a steep hill to climb, but i love a challenge and went for the paper every morning!! The park was spotless, the grass was cut twice whilst we were there and the people working there were friendly. The area is something else!! There are plenty of coastal walks in the area, the local beach oxwich beach is clean and safe and other local beaches are well worth a visit. I have no gripes really about the site, we had a really nice holiday and now have the camping bug!! Would we go back to Greenways??? YES,YES,YES!!! A nice peaceful, tranquil

Thank you for your lovely review!

I am really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us earlier this year and that you enjoyed the park and our local area.

We look forward to accommodating you again at Greenways!!
I have just returned from a visit to the Gower and have had a nice weekend. I have mixed views on the experience at Greenways, the fields were nice and spacious, the campsite kept clean and tidy, we regularly saw someone scouring the area and picking up litter. The park was good for the children although one of the swings needs oiling as the noise it made was awful and a little annoying. The new shower block and laundry etc are geat however I do feel the showers and set out well, the drainage is not sufficient. i had to shower in shoes as i was standing in the dirty water from the cubicle next to me.
The club house was good when open, however the opening hours are sporadic.. and I was a little annoyed that the pool was only open for two of the five days I was there. We had had no prior warning of this.
I do feel an onsite shop would be handy.. its a long walk down and ardous walk back up hill just to go to general store for loaf of bread. As I say we did enjoy ourselves, but also think the people who run the office need to be more informative.. and bus timetables would be appreciated.

Thank you for your honest review.

We appreciate your nice comments regarding cleanliness and the overall quality of facilities and I shall hereby address your other issues...

We have taken note that the shower design is not ideal due to the gentle gradient of the shower rooms and the water therefore spreading somewhat underfoot. I am today looking for a suitable shower-mat solution, whereby people using the showers will be raised above the water line (as used in swimming baths). This should suitably resolve the issue once and for all.

With regards to the 'clubhouse', the lounge-bar is open (as advertised in the window) from 6pm - 11:30pm Tues-Fri, from 1pm to midnight on Saturday, from 1pm to 11pm on Sunday and is closed on Mondays. The hours are kept like this simply as there is not enough trade to make staying open all day in the weekdays feasible (at present), so we open from 6pm for people to have a relaxing drink in the evenings.

With reference to the swimming pool - Unfortunately, the pool had to be closed during your visit, due to some floor tiles coming loose and coming away from the floor (water seeped under them). This meant we had to empty the pool, leave the area to dry, patch up the area temporarily (we are re-lining the pool completely ready for the 2011 season by the way, so this cannot then happen again) and then we had the refill the pool which can take two days or more. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but this was a health & safety issue as the tile edges are very sharp and the pool could not be used again until this issue was resolved. Clearly, we cannot prior warn of such things when these things happen 'off-the-cuff', we just try our best to fix them as quickly as we reasonably can.

RE: Site Shop - We have had on-site shops at Greenways in the past and unfortunately they have failed as businesses. The trouble being that there is not enough money in bread, milk, newspapers, cigarettes and the odd other convenience items to pay for its upkeep and wages. We agree that an on-site shop would be nice, however this is simply not feasible at present. If our camping business continues to grow as it has during 2010, and there is adequate demand for a site shop, then this is something we will certainly look back into at a later date.

Regarding your final comments, all I can say is that the people who run the office are practically run off their feet at this time of year. We aim to be as informative as is required by our customers at any given time. I don't know what else to say on that score really as I don't know how we could be any more informative than we generally are. We aim to help in any situation, in any way we reasonably can, at any time we reasonably can.

There are bus timetables in the office 99% of the time. If there were none there when you checked they must have recently run out.

Thank you for your visit and we hope you'll choose to stay at Greenways Leisure Park again in the future...

Kind Regards,
James Mead – Senior Manager

Further information…

Greenways Leisure Park (camping trade) is, as of 2010, being fully promoted and we aim to have one of the finest camping parks on the Gower peninsula.

We currently have a 3 Star Visit Wales grading (we were only one point off a 4 star grading during our assessment) and we wish to obtain and maintain a 4 Star grading when we are next assessed.

Our camping fields' use was extremely limited until 2010 as due to very poor water pressure we could only accept around 70 units and, years ago, we used to accept around 50 touring caravans each year, therefore leaving only around 20 pitches for tents.

This however has all changed. Swansea City Council with the backing of local residents challenged our assertion that we had a legitimate right to accept touring caravans, which in turn lead to a long legal wrangle which, unfortunately, we lost on a technicality. This in turn freed up 50 camping pitches however.

Since that time we have also established our own water supply and storage facility by means of a bore-hole spring and huge underground storage tank, with a treatment plant and pumping station. This has enabled us to avoid suffering poor water pressure any longer and has no doubt helped village water pressure as a whole.

Due to the vast investment in the water supply system and the fully refurbished shower-block, we can now accommodate somewhere between 180 - 200 tent pitches and as such 2010 is the first year, in the past 11 years, that we have actively promoted Greenways Leisure Park as a high quality, brilliantly located, up-market family & couples camping park.

We thank all of you who have visited the park this year and for all your kind comments and I hope this has given you all assurance that given time we will iron out any little problems at Greenways Leisure Park to offer you the finest camping service...

All the very best,

Mr James Mead – Senior Manager.
