Welsh campsite to play home to first UK women-only mountain biking event

A Welsh campsite is set to play host to the first UK women-only mountain biking marathon event in two weeks time, according to fforestfield.co.uk.

Fforest Fields Campsite, near Builth Wells in Mid Wales, will be the starting point for the Daisy Chain Events, which are a number of non-competitive female-only cycling events taking place around the Welsh countryside. The fun races have been organised by company John Lloyd Racing Events after many complained that there were no non-competitive female-only cycling races in the UK.

All routes have been designed so that participants of any ability will be able to take part. There will be a 20km route, as well as a 40km route to choose from. As well as the cycling, there will also be other entertainment on offer to those at the campsite, include massage and pampering sessions, face painting and a bouncy castle. It is claimed that many of the women taking part will be camping at the site for the entirety of the event.

Talking about the friendly races, a spokesperson for John Lloyd Racing Events told britishcycling.org.uk: "The event will being many like-minded ladies together to have some fun on their bikes, followed by a bit of spoiling and of course tea and homemade cake!"

He added: "Many of the entrants have booked into the campsite at the venue for the whole weekend. We are so excited about this new venture and look forward to welcoming women to their first event, as well as regular eventgoers to their first women-only mountain bike event."
