The Caravan Club invest millions in Scottish sites

Two Scottish campsites have had more than £2.5 million worth of investment from The Caravan Club.

The organisation, which represents caravanners in the UK and Ireland, is pledging £1.5 million for the construction of a the brand new Queen Elizabeth Park site at Stonehaven, as well as another £1 million to upgrade the Forfar Lochside caravan park.

Queen Elizabeth Park, which is set to open this year on July 5th, will boast 77 pitches for the camping needs of both couples and families. The site won't only be operating in summer either, as it is set to be open from March until November in 2014.

According to thecourier.co.uk, local attractions surrounding the park include fishing villages, an Olympic-sized, open-air swimming pool and Dunnottar Castle. The facility is also just 15 miles south of Aberdeen.

The award-winning Forfar Loch site, which has 70 pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes, has also seen vast improvements to the site, including new paths and electrics. It is hoped that these developments will boost the park's reputation with tourists in the area.

Talking about the investment, Ellen Shotts, product development manager for the Caravan Club told caravantimes.co.uk: "The Caravan Club is delighted to be investing these levels of funds in the two sites in order to ensure that each one meets the high quality and standard of all our sites across the network."
