Start buying camping equipment now

Campers have been encouraged to start investing in specialist equipment now to take advantage of sales.

PeterboroughToday.co.uk pointed out that a lot of items will be discounted in January, so it will cost less to get all the gear they need ahead of going camping in Wales, Scotland or England in 2012.

The news provider noted that some people may be keen to do most of their camping in the summer, so a sensible approach can be to purchase a few pieces of equipment each month and perhaps even borrow some things from friends or relatives.

It was full of praise for the outdoor experience in Britain, saying: "You can even incorporate other interests you have, such as mountain biking, hill walking or bird watching. Many campsites are well away from the smog of towns and cities and are great for budding astrologers who may fancy taking their telescope along."

For people that want to get their hands on bargains, the financial problems suffered by outdoor retailer Blacks may lead to cut-price products being sold at the chain.

Channel 4 News reported that the company - which operates Blacks and Milletts - has gone into administration, but several other firms are believed to be interested in buying the organisation, including fellow retailer JD Sports.
