South Lytchett manor Caravan and Camping park wins green honour at awards

South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park has been given a green honour at a Poole awards ceremony, according to topix.com.

The camping site, which has already been given a gold standard from the Green Tourism Business Scheme previously, won the green tourism initiative.

Talking about its environmental intentions, a statement on the campsite's website reads: "Today a strong emphasis is placed on promoting a green and sustainable holiday environment. Ever mindful of environmental issues, South Lytchett Manor takes care to encourage birds and wildlife of all types, and to maintain plant and animal habitats. A recycling scheme is also run on the campsite to minimise its impact on the environment."

As well as the green awards, the park was also named the self catering, camping and caravanning establishment of the year in the Best of Bournemouth Awards last year. It was furthermore judged as the best commercial garden in this year's South and South East in Bloom awards.

Other categories at the Poole event included Tourism Promotion of the Year, which went to went to the ITV series 'Harbour Lives'.

The awards were sponsored by commercial property agent Sibbett Gregory. Talking about the event, director of the firm, Jonathon SIbbett told bournemouthecho.co.uk: "All of this year's winners and nominees are exemplars in their fields and their contributions play a key role in creating Poole's unique reputation as a visitor destination."
