Somerset caravan site to undergo re-vamp

A Somerset campsite it set to undergo a a major re-vamp.

The Broadway House Caravan and Camping Park in Axbridge Road, Cheddar will be re-named and developed to provide added leisure facilities. It will now go under the name of Cheddar Woods Holiday Park, and will operate all year round.

Head of marketing for the park Sarah Parks told thewestonmercury.co.uk that the development would help boost the economy in the local area, as well as provide jobs.

She said: "We will be using local suppliers, contractors and resources to carry out the work. We aim to create a year-round destination, which will create jobs on the park and benefit the local economy."

Ms Parks also said that the park would aim to be as sustainable as possible, saying: "The park will be developed to be ecologically friendly and sympathetic to the area of outstanding natural beauty in which it sits."

The new facility, which will now be able to hold 185 static caravan and holiday lodges, was able to be made a reality thanks to a 'multi-million pound' cash injection by Darwin Property Investment. The planning application for the park is currently being considered by Cheddar Parish Council.

Meanwhile many of the caravan parks in Somerset have been thrown into chaos this week after flooding occurred in the area following heavy rain, according to thisissomerset.co.uk.
