Prime Minister shows his love for Cornwall staycations

David Cameron is such a big fan of staycations in Cornwall, he says there's nothing he doesn't like about the region.

The Prime Minister says he is drawn to Cornwall because of its seaside, people and landscapes, reports cornishguardian.co.uk, with his childhood experiences on the peninsula also playing a big part in the attraction. Now, he loves to take his wife and children there on holiday.

"In Cornwall, I'm very active," Mr Cameron states. "I spend a lot of time on the beach with the children. They love it so much, and they're very happy there."

He adds: "I'm just never happier than when having a barbecue at Daymer Bay, at low tide, and looking across the estuary at Padstow. It's just one of the most beautiful places. When I think about it I can picture the scene."

Mr Cameron's love for the region means he's in great support of it as a holiday destination and thinks that more needs to be done to show off what it has to offer potential visitors. The region's popularity is picking up, however. The reopening of the Dawlish rail line, for example, helped to boost tourism in the West Country, as it put a spotlight on the area, reports westbriton.co.uk.

The Prime Minister went on to say that he managed to injure himself while playing tennis during his last visit but spoke highly of the range of other activities on offer, such as surfing, running and swimming.
