Many campers will be heading to Strathallan in Perthshire this July for the annual T in the Park festival. Between the 8th and 10th of July, the festival will welcome big acts such as Stone Roses, Calvin Harris and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Last year, around 84,000 people attended the event and around 70,000 of those people camped at the site. But the event was criticised over traffic issues and antisocial behaviour. This year, organisers are planning a huge overhaul of the camping area, which will include increasing the size of the camping area by a quarter.
The new campsite area will be overseen by a dedicated on-call management team, a measure designed to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Well-informed stewards will be on hand to answer any questions that campers may have. The signage on the site will be greatly improved and the layout and zone markings will make things a lot clearer for everyone who attends. The simplification and better design of the campsite and arena layout will mean that campers can just relax and enjoy the experience without anything getting in the way of a good time.
The organisers, DF Concerts, said that for the first time, the Slam and King Tut's Tents will be open exclusively for campers on Thursday the 7th. This is due to feedback that was given last year. Campers have been listened to and attempts have been made to make the festival experience better than ever. It is to be hoped that these measures will help to curb the problems faced by event attendees in recent years.
The festivals arena will also increase in size this year, by around a third. T in the Park will, it is said, be bigger and better than ever. Transport to and from the site will also be improved and these plans will be announced in around a week.
If you are interested in seeing more information about the layout of the site then you can watch an animated video from DF Concerts that lays out the plans, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvmheg4u_co. # MakingT – Campsite.
It remains to be seen whether the new measures will not only improve things for campers but will also decrease the bad behaviour of those who seem hell bent on spoiling things for everyone else.
If you are headed to T in the Park this year, it is to be hoped that you will be able to concentrate on having a good time and that the event really will go from strength to strength.
