Oakdown Holiday Park in east Devon has been named the Automobile Association (AA) campsite of the year.
It beat around 900 other campsites to the title, scoring an impressive 94 per cent during the AA's inspection earlier this year. For the first time, the park's café - which was recently fitted with new facilities so that guests can either buy or cook their own hot food - earned five stars for its hygiene, reports exeterexpressandecho.co.uk.
The campsite also offers guests several play areas, a golf course, centrally-heated showers and a games room. Inspector Colin Church said the new green signage was a particularly nice addition this year, and that cleaning standards at the park are very high.
Alastair Franks, whose family run the campsite, stated they're looking forward to what next year brings, after having such a busy 2014.
"We are continually striving to better our park and offer high quality amenities," he explained.
"To receive this level of recognition for our work is fantastic. We knew we had done well when we received an increase in points but none of us were expecting to be named best site. It is a testament to the hard work of our family and all of our staff who help make Oakdown what it is."
This isn't the only award the site is proud to hold though, as it has a five Pennant rating from the AA Camping and Caravan Park scheme - an achievement which is similar to what a top star rated hotel could earn. It's also held the gold accolade for Professor David Bellamy's Conservation Award for 17 years in a row, reports oakdown.co.uk.
