A new holiday park in Northumberland is being planned that focuses on sustainability and conservation, reports the Morpeth Herald.
Gary Swarbrick, an agent speaking on behalf of applicant Clive Milner, revealed that specialists in ecology, arboriculture, landscape and highways have all been consulted during the development of the proposal, which would add to the wealth of quality campsites in England.
He said: "It is our intention provide an eco-friendly development of 36 log cabins and nine touring caravan pitches that will sit comfortably within the wider landscape setting through the implementation of a comprehensive landscaping scheme."
The application showed that the holiday centre, currently called Elm Park, will be located on the edge of the A1 at West Thirston, focusing on using sustainable materials for the log cabins and keeping nature conservation as a priority throughout.
Mr Milner's decision to develop a green vacation spot this year would appear to have come at a good time, as local officials are keen to support sustainability in the region, according to the Northumberland Gazette.
The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Sustainable Development Fund is currently inviting bidding for its £35,000 of funding for the upcoming financial year.
It has been reported that projects involving landscaping schemes on campsites, community renewable energy schemes and second uses for heritage buildings will be viewed favourably by officials.
