Norfolk camping site reaches finals of camping competition

A Norfolk campsite is celebrating after reaching the finals of a national camping competition.

Kelling Heath holiday park has made it to the final rounds for two categories of VisitEngland's Awards for Excellence - both the National Holiday Park of the Year Award, along with the National Sustainable Tourism Award.

The Kelling Heath team is said to be hopeful of picking up one of the awards when at the presentation ceremony, which will take place in Manchester on May 20th.

Talking about the nomination, Mark Durrant, operations manager at the campsite, told outandaboutlive.co.uk: "The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence really are the gold standard when it comes to excellence in tourism.

"They represent the highest accolades the industry has to offer, so it's fantastic news for all associated with Kelling Heath. I am very proud we have reached the finals."

Mr Durrant is hoping to do one better than last year, when the park was highly commended in the National Sustainable Tourism Category.

The park is set to have a busy year as it is also the venue for Camping Magazine's Big Camp 2013. The event will take place from April 26th - 28th, according to kellingheath.co.uk.

The family event includes a Saturday night party with live music and also features camping skills and equipment demonstrations, as well as a farmers market.
