Interesting Ideas for Camping Photography

Camping holidays are wonderful for photographers. No matter what type of photography you enjoy, whether you are a professional photographer, or a happy smart phone snapper, here are some tips to help you get those perfect frameable shots or Instagram worthy images:

Get Up Early

Getting up early when camping is a must. It is healthy to rise with the light and for photographers, or would be photographers, the early morning can hold a lot of promise. Very early in the day, before others are up and about, there can be some fantastic shots to capture that you would not be able to get at any other time. The misty haze as the sun rises over the horizon, the colours of a spectacular sunrise, or early birds out catching those early worms... there are plenty of wonderful things to see when you rise with the lark.

Stay Up Late

A camping trip can give you the chance to burn the candle at both ends, and stay up late as well as getting up early. Budding photographers can capture some vivid sunsets, or the flickering flames of an evening campfire under the stars. Experts could capture some gloaming shots for unusual lighting effects, or even have a go at some astral photography in one of the UK's dark sky areas.

Camp Up High For Amazing Landscape Vistas

One of the wonderful things about camping is that it can give you access to areas that you would not otherwise easily be able to see very easily – especially early in the morning or late at night. Consider pitching your tent at a mountain campsite, or wildcamping somewhere at a decent elevation, to capture panoramic vistas at various times of day, right from the entrance of your tent.

Camp Out To Capture Wildlife in its Natural Habitat

Wherever you choose to camp, whether on the UK coastline, in marvellous meadows, fantastic farmland, or wonderful woodlands, camping put can give you a better chance of capturing wildlife in its natural environment. Even the most common of creatures can look wonderful in the right image, but for truly awe-inspiring shots, campers should have patience. More elusive or rare creatures may be hard to spot, but practising patience and relaxing into the experience of waiting can make sure you are on hand to capture the image of these creatures when they do appear.

Take Some Up Close Shots of Local Flora and Fauna

Photographers have to learn to not only look at the big picture. Sometimes, the most amazing images can be found in the very small. Consider taking some close up shots of flowers, insects or other tiny details that you observe in and around your camping location, and capture the things that few people really take the time to see.
