National Camping and Caravanning Week 2016 will run from the 30th May – 5th June, to coincide with the May Bank Holiday. The theme, following on from last year, will be 'Get Kids Outdoors With Camping'. It is essential that parents and guardians raise children who are engaged with the natural world and understand its pleasures. Fresh air and a connection to nature are vital for us all. So get the whole family out from behind those screens and take the chance to head off for a camping adventure. Whether you have been camping many times before, or are new to the pursuit, there are plenty of places to visit and things to see.
The Camping and Caravanning Club will be travelling up and down the UK with a pop-up campsite roadshow. The roadshow will start in the Midlands at Twycross Zoo, where you can see the largest collection of apes and monkeys in the Western world. On Thursday the 2nd June, the roadshow will then move on to Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff, which is named for the author, who was born in the city. Finally, on Saturday 4th, the roadshow will move to Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park, an exciting family attraction located north of Stirling in central Scotland.
The roadshow will have plenty of free events and activities for families to enjoy. All this is designed to encourage families to get out there and enjoy a camping adventure. So whether or not you head for one of the roadshow events, you could still let the campaign spur you on to head off for a camping holiday to one of the many amazing campsites scattered across the whole of the UK, or even for a wild camping adventure.
