Five of the Sunniest Camping Destinations in the UK

At the moment, you may be forgiven for thinking that winter will never end. You may be wondering when on earth spring will finally decide to show its face. With all of the bad weather that we have been having lately, camping may be the furthest thing from your mind. But things will surely warm up as we move into April and, with the Easter holidays fast approaching, you may be wondering where would be a good bet for a sunny camping holiday. While, of course, nothing is ever guaranteed, here are five of the places where you are more likely to enjoy a sunny stay:

Sussex

Bognor Regis, Eastbourne and Hastings are a trio of towns that boast amongst the highest sunshine hours in the UK, so a stay in Sussex could be a good bet. Close to London, this part of the country is easily accessible for many, and could be a good choice if you would like a beach holiday this spring.

Cornwall

Cornwall is also a part of the country blessed with plenty of sunshine, and may see spring up to two weeks earlier than other parts of the UK! With plenty of beautiful towns and villages, and many delightful beaches and coastal locations, Cornwall could be another good choice for a camping holiday this Easter.

Isle of Wight

Lying off the south coast, the Isle of Wight also enjoys a pleasant microclimate, with plenty of sunshine even during the worst of years. Head to the south coast of the island to enjoy beautiful beaches and the best chance of a sunny stay at one of the island's lovely campsites.

Pembrokeshire, Wales

You may not think of Wales as the sunniest of spots, but the south coast of England does not have a monopoly on sunshine. The coastal towns and villages of Pembrokeshire in Wales, such as Tenby, offer a good number of hours of sunshine each year, and could be your best bet for a camping holiday a little further north.

East Neuk of Fife, Scotland

Moving north again, Scotland is not famed for its sunshine – but some parts of the country are far, far drier than others. One of the driest parts of the country is the East Neuk of Fife, where the charming coastal villages are often sunny for most of the spring, and there are a number of beautiful beaches to enjoy. Just to the north, Dundee is said to be Scotland's sunniest city.
