Five British and two Irish locations feature in Lonely Planet's list of the top 50 "undiscovered and overlooked" destinations in Europe.
According to metro.co.uk, the Cromane Peninsula in Ireland makes it to the top ten section of the list, reaching an impressive fifth place. The other Irish location, Dublin, only placed 46th in comparison.
Conwy in Wales is the best secret location in Britain and it places 26th in the list. This is closely followed by London and the gorgeous countryside of the South Cotswolds.
Although Battle in East Sussex is classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lonely Planet notes that it's often not seen as a tourist destination. It recommends that tourists should not only see the fields where the infamous Battle of Hastings took place, they must also experience the village's quaint streets and take time to admire the beautiful countryside.
To get some unspoilt views of Loch Ness, Lonely Planet suggests going to Cluanie in Scotland, which ranked 44th overall.
David Else, the author of 'Lonely Planet's Great Britain' guidebook, is unsurprised that so many UK locations appear in the 'Secret Europe' list.
"With a wealth of breathtaking landscapes and such fascinating history, there's plenty that travellers are yet to discover," he says, reports independent.co.uk.
