Dog Friendly Campsites in Scotland

Camping with a dog can be rewarding for them and for you. But choosing the right campsites is key to avoiding a fraught experience. Here are five dog friendly campsites in Scotland that are sure not to disappoint:

Muasdale, Mull of Kintyre

This unspoiled and tranquil campsite on the picturesque Mull of Kintyre is a lovely place for dog-owning campers. The beautiful beach is only a few steps away from your pitch, with plenty of space and freedom for your dog.

Glenmore, nr Aviemore

Set in leafy, forest surrounds next to beautiful Loch Morlich, this campsite is perfect for those who want to explore the ancient forests near Aviemore and perhaps also head up into the Cairngorms. Extensive, beautiful trails lead from here round the loch, through the forests and further afield, so there will be no shortage of ways to tire out your canine companion before the end of the day.

Cobleland, Trossachs

This campsite sits on the banks of the River Forth in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just 13 miles from the impressive peak of Ben Lomond. One of the best things about this site for dog owners is that, like the last campsite on this list, there is a network of trails that give access to miles of stunning forest walks right from the site.

Canna Campsite

Those who really want a back to basics adventure and want to get away from it all should head for this dog-friendly campsite on this car-free island in the Hebrides, off the west coast. The campsite's owner can pick you up from the ferry port, or you can walk, and you will be able to enjoy plenty of walks around the small island. Campfires and outdoor cooking are encouraged and spectacular scenery and wildlife is all around.

North Rhinns Camping, Dumfries and Galloway

This friendly, small and relaxed campsite only has space for a few campers at any one time, but dogs are made as welcome as their owners. The lovely pitches here are all unique and each offers you your own private enclave for the duration of your stay. There is a walk to a local beach and plenty more to see and do in the surrounding area.
