Camping Club endorses security system

The UK Camping and Caravanning Club has endorsed a new anti-theft system made by Custodia Systems, according to shows.stv.tv. The electronic device, AppelloGEO is said to be particularly effective in that it doesn't use GPS technology.

Cambridge-news.co.uk reports that the security system will be marketed to over half a million members of the Club as a tracking device that can protect motorhomes and caravans.

The lack of GPS in the system means it can be used to protect items inside as well as out and has a Stealth Mode that can help to combat the effectiveness of GPS signal-blocking devices.

Campsites in England could soon benefit from lower levels of theft if the security system proves to be popular. The subscription also includes a service that has 'on the ground' investigators to find stolen items from anywhere in Europe, rather than the more commonly used satellite-based systems that show a map with a tracking dot.

The Camping and Caravanning Club's Membership Services Director, Paul Joes said: "Importantly, it is one of only two devices to achieve the coveted Sold Secure Diamond Standard. Its use of powerful RF tracking technology, together with dedicated recover investigation specialists, gives some very real benefits over traditional satellite based products."
