Campsites could play a large part in encouraging 'location vacations' for film buffs desperate to see their favourite movie locations this year, according to the Mail Online.
An increasing number of Hollywood blockbusters are being filmed in the UK, with Stephen Spielberg's 'War Horse' - filmed in Wiltshire - and 'The Woman in Black' - set in a variety of locations - tipped to be must-see backdrop destinations in 2012.
Spielberg's 'War Horse', which is based on a children's novel set in the First World War, is set in the picturesque village of Castle Combe. This is just a small drive away from campsites in Devon, for example.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, star of BBC One's 'Sherlock' and the award-winning Emily Watson, Britain's tourism chiefs are confident that films such as this will showcase the country on an international platform . They could also encourage tourism in the rural countryside.
Similarly, 'The Woman in Black', starring 'Harry Potter' star Daniel Radcliffe, could encourage an influx of tourists into locations used during its shoot. According to the Press Association, these include Bluebell Railway in East Sussex, the Colne Valley Railway in East Anglia and the Tudor palace of Layer Marney Tower, near Colchester in Essex.
It is also hoped that the Charles Dickens' classic 'Great Expectations' will do great things for British locations when it is released later in 2012, just like 'Wuthering Heights' did for the Yorkshire Moors last year.
