AA announces winners of Caravan and Camping Awards

The winners of the AA Caravan and Camping Awards have now been revealed, with a five-star family-run Sidmouth campsite scooping arguably the most coveted gong.

Oakdown Country Holiday Park, a touring and holiday caravan park that has been run by the Franks family for more than four decades, was named the AA Campsite of the Year for England, as well as the overall winner going into 2015, exeterexpressandecho.co.uk reports.

It's not the first time that the Frank's holiday park, situated on the Jurassic Coast, has been celebrated; it became Sidmouth's first five-star graded park, and was the 2013 and 2014 Regional Choice Winner for Devon - voted for by Practical Caravan Magazine readers.

An AA spokesperson commented that Oakdown's features "can only be described as stunning", noting that the quality of its housing and facilities set it apart from other sites.

"Oakdown... is the perfect holiday base, with spacious pitches, very comfortable facilities and a warm welcome from the Franks family and their attentive team.

"A worthy winner of the Best in England and Overall Campsite of the Year Award," the spokesperson added.

Witches Craig Caravan Park in Blairlogie, Stirling was also celebrating after being named Scotland's Campsite of the Year. All sites nominated were visited by an AA qualified Campsite Inspector, outandaboutlive.co.uk notes.
