We are open all year, but in the winter you must give us adequate notice, and talk to us directly before coming.
At the moment, you can just come and camp with tarp/hammock/tent and a fire for £5.00 each 24 hrs plus an extra charge for firewood (we provide this so that deadwood remains for wildlife). It's £3.00 for kids.
We do not allow dogs.
There are basic 'bush' camping facilities, for example, compost toilets, and watering can showers.
Mains water is now available on site!
We would prefer you to bring smaller tents and form a grouping around a campfire, rather than have a huge family dome tent that involves locking you away from your surroundings, plus it may be difficult to enough flat space to pitch these. There are plenty of trees to hang tarps from...!
Tipis are available for hire, as are canoes and bikes.
11 to 7 am 'quiet time' to keep the site peaceful, and no loud music/radios at any time.
Even what you think may be quiet talking or chopping of wood after this time, especially if you have had a drink or two, may annoy others, so please start your campfires early...
The 30 acre site is ideal for bushcraft camping, and secure with no public access. We are near Hay-on-Wye, just in Herefordshire, and can pick up from several railway stations and the river with your canoe! Please consider leaving your car at home or lift sharing...
We ask that you bring your own projects to work on so that we can maintain the biodiversity and nature of the woodland. If you have not camped in a woodland before and cannot demonstrate basic camping skills and respect for the woodland environment, then you will be asked to undergo basic instruction.
There are walks to nature reserves and the River Wye, and the hills of Wales are close by.
