Tucked away under the watchful eye of St Cewydd's on the one side and bordered by the babbling river Ithon lies Disserth Caravan and Camping Park. Set amidst natural tranquillity this compact sheltered level park has been accommodating travellers for centuries, once it was an overnight stop for drovers heading for the Midlands and now today it is an idyllic location for your caravan, motorhome or tent for a relaxing rest from the hustle and bustle of modern living or a base from which to explore the natural beauty of the Heart of Wales.
The fortunate few really do know that we have otters for neighbours and those budding anglers amongst you will have to compete with the resident kingfisher and heron for a share of the catch. Buzzards and red kite regularly grace the thermals over the park whilst the surrounding hedgerows and trees are home to a wealth of smaller birds. On a warm summer evening with a cloudless sky the unfolding night sky is a joy to behold as there is no white light pollution to interrupt the spectacle.
Your hosts at Disserth are Ann and Mike Hobbs plus their two daughters.
The Facilities at the site
Touring Facilities:
30 sheltered level well drained informal grass pitches.
16 amp electric hook-ups available for every pitch.
Toilet and washing facilities are located in a purpose built log cabin where you will find a series of airy (all have windows) individual rooms offering total privacy. Each of the eight rooms has a toilet and full size wash basin, with five of the rooms also having a shower and electric shaver point. One of these shower/toilet rooms has been created to meet the needs of wheelchair users. We also have a further shower room which can be booked for exclusive private use, just like having ensuite in a hotel. A coin-operated hair drier is also provided in a further part of the building again with privacy. The building is on one level and has ramped approaches, with the only necessary step being a 100mm rise into the shower with the exception of the wheelchair access room where the shower is incorporated into the floor.
Reservations are not normally necessary except at Bank Holidays and Royal Welsh Show (3rd Monday in July).
Re-cycling and waste disposal facilities are discreetly located in the entrance yard away from all touring pitches, along with the grey water and toilet disposal points.
Water points strategically placed on touring park.
Dish washing room where a fridge and microwave are provided for the use of campers.
Immediately off the dishwashing room is a laundry room with sink, coin operated washing machine and tumble drier. Ironing facility also provided. Whilst waiting for your washing you can investigate local attractions as our tourist information leaflets are displayed in the laundry facility.
Calor Gas and Camping Gaz refills available on site.
Seasonal Pitches:
For those who wish to enjoy Disserth longer we offer a few informal seasonal pitches for touring caravans. A modest daily storage fee is levied and the normal pitch fees are paid when the caravan is in use. All we ask is that you telephone 24 hours before your visit and we will place the caravan on the park ready for your arrival.
Boardroom Bar:
The upstairs bar that has a no smoking Charter policy is renowned for selling Felinfoel Welsh beers and a host of Irish and Scottish malt whiskies along with a variety of other tipples for quenching a thirst derived from an enjoyable day out in the Welsh fresh air.
Downstairs seating is also available and we will gladly bring drinks to your table if the stairs are daunting.
