Despite signage stating that late arrival parking was after 10pm we arrived 9pm and found the office closed and no immediate access for filling our motorhome with water. At 8am when the office opened we asked (after giving good reasons) to be shown our plot and overheard the Manager advising staff ‘No’, and were charged full price and no welcome. Entering before 9am would’ve made too much noise. despite this, a diesel engined car towing a caravan left before 9am. Also once paid for barrier key we were told we could come and go as we pleased without time restrictions. Noise no longer an issue with a barrier key!
Delivered to our plot by 2 staff at 9.15am. Both staff seemed confused about how we should park for fire regulations. After parking and levelling ourselves on this sloped and kerbed plot we had a visit from additional 2 staff and asked to move 180 degrees so doors and windows facing upwards for fire regulation - no enquiries about position of our petrol tank or gas bottles!. A drive-away awning would now have been at the entrance to the plot and it would have been impossible to drive away from our awning without going over the kerb and onto and over the grass. It also meant that the sea view wasn't for us.
At 11am our friends arrived and parked in the late arrival park. They then paid the standard £1 visitor charge(non refundable) and £4 (deposit) for a car pass intending to park on our plot. Before starting their car our friend received a business phonecall which he answered in his car. A member of the campsite staff stood looking at him with arms folded until he finished his call and moved off. Our friends who took us out in their car returned us at 11pm and had no way of getting his refund on the car pass back since the office closed long before this.
As we weren’t given a site map we were unable to find a motorhome waste point, so once through the barrier to hand our key we were told that it would be found on the late night parking area and someone could open the grate for us “if you want”.
Lovely area but lots of noise on our plot in the centre of campsite from the motorway over night. A nicely laid out site, and grass cut with scissors and it may have won an award at some point, but some planning for motorhomes wouldn’t go amiss. Customer care should feature equally with fire regulations. Other sites provide a duty member of staff between 8 and 10pm, or they reduce their fees for late night parking.
We won't be returning to this site.
Lovely multi-level mainly hardstanding pitches,over-looking the sea.5 min walk to the beach.
Shower blocks good [2] with laundry service, plenty of tourist information leaflets in reception and really helpfull staff, they take you to your pitch or tractor your van for you and look on their computer for what you want to know.
An excellent site although a little expensive during
