Greenacres is an award-winning family owned campsite, set in the beautiful Somerset countryside.

Our quiet 4.5 acre site nestles where the Somerset Levels meets the Mendip Hills, with stunning views of Glastonbury Tor. We offer lots of play space, big pitches, amazing wildlife and a peaceful, get-away-from-it-all holiday, just 40 minutes from the cities of Bristol and Bath.

Greenacres was the AA SMALL CAMPSITE OF THE YEAR 2014, the very first winners of an award which recognises excellence in smaller sites. Our GOLD PENNANT and AA merit score of 96% is the highest in the UK at this grading. Their inspector said Greenacres provides "an excellent, spacious, family camping environment " We're also one of the select sites featured in Cool Camping Britain, described as a "Spellbinding family campsite" with"a peaceful outdoor living area that is both safe and comfortable for young families and lots of fun for children.". The Rough Guide to Camping in Britain put it simply "Greenacres is a really family-focused place. What more could you need for a refreshing and outdoorsy Somerset getaway?"

We are close to the beautiful city of Wells, with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishops Palace, mystic Glastonbury and the historic market town of Shepton Mallet. Nearby is a wealth of attractions including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, shopping at Clark's Village in Street, Longleat, Bath, Bristol, the Fleet Air Arm museum, the Bath & West Showground and many others. Less than an hour away are the beaches of Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Lyme Regis, Weymouth and Bridport.

There's lots to see and do, or maybe you'd prefer to spend the time dozing, listening to the birds.

Reviews of Greenacres

Great campsite kids love it. Toilets & showers were spotlessly clean. Fridge/freezers to keep food fresh awesome can't recommend this site enough.

This is our favourite site by far. Quiet, peaceful, away from it all, but close to all the best Somerset days out if the weather is as bad as it was this year. We've been coming to Greenacres for many years and have to say the showers/toilets are always spotless and there is always plenty of hot water. Rustic they may be, but it all adds to the charm of real camping. The owners are friendly, helpful and bring a genuine family feel to the place, without fuss. A local mobile shop visits each day with lovely produce and not expensive. The pub in West Pennard is also highly recommended.
Our favourite pastime is to hire bikes from the site and enjoy a day cycling the lanes of the Somerset Levels - cheap, healthy and a fantastic fun day.
We have NEVER had a problem with noise or anything else at Greenacres - it's our little slice of paradise!

Response from Greenacres
Always a pleasure and we're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stays this year, despite some terrible weather. Equally thrilled to hear there will be a third generation of your family staying with us very soon. We will have the baby trailer fitted to your hire bike ready for your arrival in 2013 !! Beautiful location spoilt by very poor toilet and washing facilities. Also I feel night time noise on this site could be a problem. On our stay we were pitched next to a large adult group booking. Drinking alchohol and singing "beer songs". The no noise rule after 2300 did not seem to be enforced. All this, despite the site being advertised as family and children friendly. Sadly, I cannot recommend this site to families with children or those wanting a good nights sleep.

Response from Greenacres
Thank you for the feedback from your stay back in 2010 and we're disappointed to hear you weren't satisfied with the toilet and washing facilities. Having bought Greenacres the previous year we invested heavily during 2010 in a new boiler and new fully-tiled showers and recently brand new sinks/automatic taps have been installed to modernise the facilities. As other reviewers have pointed out, cleanliness is always our first priority.
Rest assured if any incidents of late night noise are reported to us, they are always taken seriously and promptly dealt with. Greenacres is primarily a family camp site and built on a great reputation for its tranquillity.
