Colliford Lake Park Campsite is nestled amidst the rugged beauty of Bodmin Moor, which extends to almost 200 square kilometers. Our Campsite is a tent only one, all of our unmarked grass pitches are non-electric, it extends to 20 acres of secluded open Moorland with stunning views across Colliford Lake. It has the added benefit of its own private access to the Lake, which is Cornwall’s premier brown trout fishery and fly fishing is open to the public until the 12th October 19 if they purchase a permit. A monster 9lb 8oz brown trout was caught (and released) during the last weekend in July 18 so we know that it is a superb location to fish. The Campsites facilities include separate male and female toilets and showers. There is also a large communal building containing a kitchen area, which has a sink, fridge freezer and laundry equipment, and a large dining area with a TV. Outside of this building there is a communal area with gas BBQ available and picnic tables so that our guests can get together and make new friends if they wish to. Bodmin Moor is an Internationally renowned designated ‘Dark Sky’ Landscape because of the lack of light pollution which provides dramatic night skies when conditions allow. The House is located in the heart of the Moor so it is the perfect location for both novice and experienced astronomers to enjoy their exploration of things beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. If you are keen to learn more about Astronomy we can put you in touch with an expert adviser on this subject and also a supplier of telescopes to suit all skill levels. The Moor is a Walkers & Hikers paradise and the house is a great base for enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Whether you want to pick your own routes or to complete all or just part of the renowned and beautiful 'Copper Trail', a 10 day 60 mile, circular walk around the Moor or any one of the shorter 'I Walk Cornwall', 2.2 mile Easy – Moderate to 6.6 mile moderate – Strenuous, routes but still enjoy all the comforts of home then why not give us a try. The Moor provides visitors with many other outdoor activities that are unique to the area these include alpaca and pony trekking, exploring nature and wildlife watching, visiting local sites of historical interest and cycling. Positioned on the northwest edge of Colliford Lake, the campsite is centrally located between the North and South Cornish coasts, with the popular coastal resorts of Looe in the South and Padstow in the North a pleasant 40 minute drive away. Although the campsite offers all the benefits of a remote location it is only a few minutes from the A30 dual carriageway which connects most of the major towns in Cornwall. For our adventurous guests there are over 200 things to see and do within a 45 minute journey time.
