Blacklands Caravan and Camping is a friendly, family run campsite set in oak enclosed meadows in the heart of the picturesque Sussex countryside.

Younger children can let off steam in the the large fenced off playground area, and by exploring this secluded and natural retreat on foot, or by bike. Older children often like to gather around the rope swings, or down by the banks of the lake. You will also find goal posts and plenty of space for field games for adults and children alike.

The fishing is great too, with a number of scenic lakes contained within the park itself, all well-stocked with fish, including carp.

Taking a walk through the pristine local countryside via any of several footpaths that run directly from or close to the park is not something to be missed. The footpaths can be followed into Henfield, the nearest village a couple of miles away, or perhaps to any of the more local pubs for lunch.

Why not hire a fire pit and grab a few logs from the onsite shop to join the other campers roasting marshmallows around the fire pit as the sun goes down.

Reviews of Blacklands Farm

This campsite is quite reasonably priced in our view and has basic facilities such as showers (4 ladies, 2 mens), washing up sinks (6 with hot water in upper field, 4 with cold only in lower field) and lots of toilets in various different blocks (all in the upper field and all with cold water only at sinks). It also has a kids playground, small shop in reception and the lower field runs down to a really attractive lake.

During our stay there were many groups of 4,5 or 6 families all pitched up together and with lots of kids. This did mean than there was almost always noise of kids playing during the daytime and of adults chattering away well past the 11pm 'all quiet' cut of time which we didn't notice anyone enforcing. By 7am there were kids up and playing again and of course their parents up again too. This is fine if you're a family with kids but we were looking for something peaceful and relaxing and had been told the site would be 'quiet' as long as we didn't go on a bank holiday. From our one weekend experience maybe avoid weekends and school holidays if you want a more restful stay.

The site is really well placed for exploring the local area. There are lots of lovely towns and villages nearby, busier resorts like Brighton are just a short drive away and there are also lots of National Trust houses, gardens etc in the region. If you want to go out for a walk, the nearest town of any size is a 2 mile walk or drive. The nearset pub is about a mile away although we walked up to the Royal Oak in Wineham about 2 miles away and were very happy with the pub and the service.
