Reviews of Thriftwood Holiday Park

As we drove upto the campsite it was very well presented and a lovely big pond with big fish in it too. Mark and Julia the owners greeted us at reception, we were then taken to out pitch by Ron, nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The facilities were very clean and tidy and freshened up throughout the day, there was a lovely heated swimming pool next to the facilities and a bar - this had FREE Wifi, a pool table, television with lovely food.

The setting was beautiful and we will definitely return to this site.

Our first trip in our new caravan to Thriftwood, my husband and I are keen walkers and were recommended by friends because of their country walks, we were not disappointed , the camp is set in the beautiful village of stansted and the office provided us with listed walks. The onsite games room and kids park kept out 2 boys (8-11) off our hands, evenings were just as enjoyable as the club house had entertainment for all the family, staff were more than helpful, and reception staff were so kind and accommodating (even though we arrived 2 hours late) . Showering facilities are lovely!! Brand new and beautifully designed .. Would recommend to anyone, new campers or pro's .. the perfect short break for all the family, returning as soon as I get time off work (can't wait) 5*

My visit to Thriftwood Holiday Park This is my first review of any holiday park but I thought I'd have to get round to having something to say about this one, I had a two week stay over Christmas and new year, the weather was a bit cold but I can't blame anyone for that. The park is in a lovely peaceful area which is back onto a large woodland suitable for long walks.
Everything is spick and span, no litter and the park homes all look smart and tidy, there is a shop at the front to get supplies, clean showers and toilets , a park with climbing frame and swings for the kids and a heated swimming pool (although it was closed in the winter).
The bar was family friendly, served a selection of meals and had wonderful entertainment, during my stay there was a singer, karaoke , bingo , quiz nights plus children's games and treasure hunts. I had the most amazing new years eve I can ever remember. What made my stay most enjoyable was the fact that it was a family run park, the whole family were so kind and were a pleasure to talk to, they all really cared about the park and would always do anything possible to help.
Since my first visit I have now booked another stay over easter, both me and my daughter are really looking forward to our holiday.

me and my partner were recomended this campsite and thought we would check it out. on our arival we were welcomed by 2 very friendly staff who checked us in and showed us to our pitch. the pitches all seemed farely new and well kept, so so far we were very pleased. the facilities there were all clean and well looked after. the campsite has a small club house where the majority of people went of a evening, there was entertainment and everyone seemed friendly, including the other campers. overall our stay was very much enjoyed and we hope to be back soon.

Planned and booked a weekend stay at Thriftwood but the weekend turned into a week, we just loved it. From the moment we arrived on site we were greeted so warmly, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. We were shown to a lovely pitch near the pool, pitches are well maintained and grounds are spotless. We made great use of the heated pool, showers and toilets were clean and tidy. Site is dog friendly with great woodland walks. The bar had a great atmosphere, we felt at home on the 1st night, also kept in touch with some lovely people who stay there full time. And bar was family friendly with great entertainment and served food which was ideal for us. Staff throughout our stay went out of their way to please us, nothing was to much trouble. Lots to do for the kids, games room / play park/ and lots to explore. Very safe as well CCTV and a barrier to get in and out so no need to chase the kids down constantly, relaxing and beautiful.

We also spent a day in London (a short train ride from Thriftwood). We liked it so much we are considering buying a seasonal pitch.

I found this beautiful campsite just by chance, it is only 14 miles from my home but you could be anywhere in England. When I arrived I was impressed with the way our arrival was dealt with and the security of the grounds. We were given an electronic key for the entrance gate which is metal bollards. We were shown to our pitch by a man that could not be more helpful. When we had set up our kids wanted to explore. We had a lovely walk through the woods and fields (which we did each day ) building camps and playing. My son found the park brilliant and made new friends everyday (as did we adults) it was spotlessly clean and enclosed. The toilet/ shower block was the same not at anytime did we see litter or mess anywhere. The outdoor swimming pool is heated and I had to literally drag my son out of it!!! The first night we arrived our party just chilled and chatted around the bbq (maybe a wine or two was drunk) but it was peaceful and relaxing. The second night we decided to go the the clubhouse as there was a disco on again it is a lovely clubhouse clean and friendly we had the most amazing night and I must say the kids and adults laughed, sung and the kids loved the little games room which is there. We did find out that night that it is a family run business with Dad, Mum, Sons, daughter and wives and over the time we were there meet nearly all of them and found them to be very helpful accomadating and very very funny!!! We also enjoyed a Country and Western night and a few games of bingo (I didn't win but next time) We have already booked to go again twice and taking friends with us. We made new friends that we will be seeing there again. I would recommend this place to anyone and loved every minute of being there as did the kids.
