The campsite has very basic facilities for those who want a break from modern life, but there is a spar shop an easy five minute walk away, several country pubs in the area and a bustling little market town just 4 miles down the road, and a SmallSnackShack on-site. This is Basic Camping on a working farm so don't expect too much in the way of modern comforts, just enjoy our countryside, cows, wildlife, sunsets, and stars! But we do have beautiful flush loos, showers, and Campfires are allowed. No cars permitted in the camping fields except briefly to unload.

Reviews of Oakfield Farm

As parents camping for the first time with out 20 month old, we found Oakfield Farm a perfect experience.

Everyone was very welcoming and accommodating.

We found the site to be very calm and had everything we needed for a nice weekend camping experience.

Thank you June and all for looking after us.

Went away for an impromptu weekend at Oakfield. It is a great little campsite if you just want a quite family friendly weekend. Nick and June could not have been more helpful and I would I highly recommend.

This was only our 2nd family camping trip with our dog and first time staying in a farm. June met us as we arrived at the farm and was instantly very likeable and feel like you have known her years!
Huge field with the tents pitched around the outer edge which kept the middle of the field free for the children to play. Toilets and shower were extremely clean and loved the fact we could buy eggs, bacon and steak which were all local produce.
Really nice meeting Ski and he did a good job of looking after all the campers and making sure they had their campfires put out late at night!
We WILL be returning next summer and have very fond memories of our time at Oakfield Farm.

A really lovely campsite. Safe for kids, friendly, well organised and clean. We had a lovely time here and the owners are super friendly. Plus campfires! Toilets and showers are basic but kept clean. Good distance between tents and well thought out placement of groups etc. Sadly we didn't get up early enough to milk the cow but we did try the raw milk which was delish!

Great place, so peaceful-lovely being in the adult field with the horses during the day...June is a great host.
Definitely going back next year ????

A basic and comfortable site with a warm welcome and a really friendly atmosphere. We travelled just a few miles to stay 2 nights with our young daughters and we were delighted! Highlights of the stay: Milking Pansy, toasting marshmallows on a campfire and dog rescue! And the shower is pretty good too!! Thank you June and Nick x

Its a field, small cabin toilets at either end and a small cabin shower. For basic, back to nature camping, you could not ask for more. Large pitch spaces, friendly owners who make time for a chat about the farm and how much they appreciate the campers business, and it shows. Every pitch was taken, but it didn't feel overcrowded at all. Next year they plan to put in washing up facilities (we did ours with our kettle and a bowl, but some people have requested this)and a little pop up shop for necessities. But there is a garage and pubs within walking distance (The Yew Tree, was a very long walk, but worth it) but there is another much closer, which we did not try. All in all, a nice tidy.....field!

This was our fourth time camping at oakfield farm and loved it as always. Basic facilities and fires allowed making it perfect for what we wanted.
We were a large group and had plenty of space away from other campers which was great.
The hosts are brilliant and take good care of all campers.
Thank you for having us back June and we hope to see you again soon!

Wonderfully peaceful basic campsite, lovely long grass, trees, horses and cows. It was beautiful to sit beside our log fire and watch the sun go down. June and Ski so so helpful and friendly - will return next year. The Yurt looks fabulous - wil consider this for a girlie weekend away! Only tiny downside is there is traffic noise, having said that, the campsite is off the main road but the noise seems to travel. Highly recommend.

The camp site is very basic which is perfect if it is what you want. The facilities were very clean with toilett rolls, soap liquid and paper hand towels which was a very nice surprise! June is very friendly and helpful. She comes around on arrival and she's always around if you need her or need help. The only negative point is the noisy road which is constant. It wouldn't stop us from going again though!
Corinne Denham (13th Aug 2015)
We've been here several times before, but this is the first camping we've tried with our 12 month old, and he loved it! We always get such a warm and friendly reception, the site is excellent as always and the facilities are always clean. This is proper camping, but all the better for it. We're going back in 2 weeks!
Jared & Carolina (10th Aug 2015)
Lovely relaxed place to stay! Lots of space for the children to play in the centre. We loved being able to have a camp fire & take our dog. We all loved meeting Pansy & seeing her being milked. Her milk was delicious!
The Dodsons (9th Aug 2015)
First time there and loved it. Yes it is basic but I expected that. camp fires, space, owners, peace and quiet all fantastic.
kids loved milking the cows on sunday!
The yew tree pub down the road is a real gem, lovely gardens and food.
Angie Moores (3rd Aug 2015)
What a great place to stay! Lovely hosts who really do care about their campers. We only stayed for one night but we really wished we could have stayed longer. As some of the other reviews have said, the log fire was such a great touch and my son and I really enjoyed the little farm trip on Sunday morning. The pitch sizes are really big so you don't feel you're on top of each other. We will definitely be back, bottle of red and a hug at the ready June ;) thanks again.

Had a lovely time at Oakfield farm with the kids. We all felt very safe and despite the rain, enjoyed the whole experience. The campsite is so well situated for all the attractions in the area, and we felt that the owners went the extra mile to enhance our stay by giving all the children the chance to milk Pansy the cow and also giving the adults a better understanding of the benefits of unprocessed milk.
This is basic camping, but there's a lovely freedom in that and in watching the flames of the campfire with sleepy children who've had plenty of fresh air and good fun!

Return visit. Love this site it is our favourite place. Amazing hosts who are very welcoming, cannot do enough for you and sell their own lovely produce. Thank you for another lovely weekend of memory making!
Lisa roberts (12th Jul 2015)
A basic campsite with very clean flush loos and a warm shower. The kids loved having a campfire and went wild running around the field - no cars, so no worries. Very friendly owners who seem to really enjoy having guests camping in their field! Kids also enjoyed milking the cow on Sunday morning.
Emily Roper (8th Jul 2015)
Excellent back to basics camping. June can't do enough to help. Massive pitches and very generous sacks of logs for £5. Brilliant campsite, lovely people and you even get the chance to milk old pansy.
Steve (5th Jul 2015)
What lovely hosts! We felt really welcome here, were greeted with a box of wood and information of what to do in the area.
Facilities were very basic, but cleaned regularly. It would have been really useful to have an outside washing up area and facilities for the removal of rubbish.
Andria Runcieman (25th Aug 2014)
If you want a rustic experience this is your campsite. Tents are pitched around the edge leaving plenty of room for children to play and dogs to roam. It had 2 flushing ladies & also 2 gents loos & 1 shower which whilst we opted for wet wipes our friend said the shower was extremely good. Fire wood was fab and non smoking & 6 bells@ chidingly, a must if you want a local pub with no frills but great atmosphere. You can walk back to camp site which is 1.6 miles. June was a treasure and eager to help. Kids can see the cow milked on a Sunday morning if you can get them up that early!
Linzi Khan (17th Jul 2014)
Great time, lovely host, fab atmosphere!
Georgie Packer (22nd Jun 2014)
Although we usually use the Camping and Caravanning Club sites, we loved this site. Basic, but lovely because of it, back to basics! We enjoyed the camp fires with toasted marshmallows and after speaking to June, managed to get fish and chips delivered to the site for the first night! The kids loved seeing the animals and with so much space, we couldn't have hoped for more. Even the weather was kind! A great get away for a weekend.
Helen Stevens (3rd Jun 2014)
We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed June's friendly, helpful hospitality. It was great to have the open fire, basic but clean facilities and lots of space for the kids to run around and play games. I would recommend it.
Sarah (3rd Jun 2014)
We would really recommend Oakfield campsite Nick & June were so helpful and would do there best to help wherever they can. June seemed to always be cleaning the toilets no matter what the weather. We stayed over half term & of course that meant rain, so the field did get muddy but that didn't damped our spirits with log fires, marshmallows, and open fields what more could you want. It even had the added bonus of the lovely Pansy cow who on Sunday morning June does a talk and milks which was a real treat which we all really enjoyed my son especially. Even if you can't make Sunday if you ask nicely and June can she will take you to see her any morning! Even if it's in your pj's. Be prepared though the site is basic, no washing up facilities or bins (only basic recycling) but if you can manage without it's well worth a visit! We will defiantly be back :-)
Sophie (2nd Jun 2014)
Myself and my 2 boys stayed at this site fot 3 nights and 4 days and had a wonderful time. The site is as it says 'basic' but the facilities provided (shower & flushing toilets) were excellent and kept very clean and easy to access at all times. Water is all drinkable and the showers were plenty hot enough.
The owners were both very helpful and very kind. Will be coming back again for sure...

6 of us had a lovely stay at Oakfield Farm. We stayed in the adult only section, which we had to ourselves. This was in a lovely setting, complete with a pond and horses! Unfortunately it rained when we were there (and we had a leaky tent!) but the lovely owner opened up the cabin for us to use and keep dry in. We've already recommend it to friends and family and will definitely be back again!
Charlotte (3rd Aug 2013)
Lovely campsite and Jean the owner was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the family field where you can only pitch round the edges as the middle is for playing, this also was great as everything felt really spacious. The logs you could buy from the farm were great and easy to burn (unlike some other sites). The farm tour on the Sunday was great for the kids (and us!), milking the cow and feeding the goats and also a small farm museum and talk by her husband. The only drawback was the noise from the road, which wasn't intrusive but when we went for a walk you really appreciated the peacefulness you could have had. The facilities were basic as described but very clean. Would definitely recommend.
Tara Whittington (29th Jul 2013)
Great camp site for families and adult. 2 separate fields so kids can play freely and adults have a place to be away from it all. The owners were lovely, welcoming and helpful. They delivered quality logs for your camp fire, you could milk the cow and meet the pigs and goats which our kids loved. The facilities were basic but immaculately presented and I believe there will be a shower soon as well.
Also a big plus is no 2 night minimum at weekends which is rare on a quality site like this. Book with confidence!!
Andrew (26th Jul 2013)
Went for one night which was great, we stayed in the family field and at first we thought loud kids etc but it was extremely peaceful and couldn't hear the kids even when playing. June was a great help as she told us the best spots for what we wanted and gave us great directions to Yew Tree pub (def a great walk) also June comes round with a huge container full of wood for your fires def worth paying the £5 for. The sleep was amazing didn't hear any other campers but did here cars from the road way every so often. in the morning they have eggs to buy and on Sunday fresh milk from the cow mmmm.
Will def come back as only 15 min from Eastbourne so great way to get a good trip in.

We visited Oakfield Farm for a couple of nights with friends & were very fortunate to have fantastic weather. June greeted us on arrival & was very welcoming & helpful throughout our stay. We had a very generous sized pitch which gave the children lots of space to run around without bothering other campers! They loved playing in the camping field, having the opportunity to milk Pansy the cow Sunday morning & meeting the other animals on the farm. Evenings were great as we were able to have a BBQ & campfire - perfect! Facilities were clean & we were not put off by the lack of showers. Thank you Nick & June for a very enjoyable couple of days!!
Becky&Matt (11th Jul 2013)
We visited with two other families and had a brilliant time. Perfect for a few peaceful nights and plenty of space for the kids to let off steam in the uncut meadow at this time of year....later it is cut for hay. Sunday morning 8am milking Pansy (the cow)was a highlight as was seeing the goats (on leads) and pigs. Drinking 'real' Guernsey milk what a treat. June is a wonderful hostess and makes sure you are happy and can provide plenty of logs!
Pettitt family (4th Jul 2013)
Fantastic campsite. All you need is here, loads of space for kids to play, roaring campfires in the evenings, clean toilets and drinking water. Not to mention a well organised and warmly accomodating host - June. We had planned to go out for the day on Saturday but the children were so happy we decided to just kick back and relax at the campsite. Sunday morning milking Pansy was a highlight for the children and June is a very interesting lady to listen to. All in all a fantastic site and we hope to return.
hilary (11th Jun 2013)
A huge thank you to June for all your help throughout my stay on your campsite. Was so peaceful in the adult area. Your help upon my arrival was so warm and welcoming, infact you couldn't really fault anything, even your cow milking demonstration was brilliant its nice to see that your farm skills in use. Would defiantly recommend to anyone and everyone i know. Thanks once again.

Was a lovely place very quiet, we had 3 tents and was put in a non camping field which had not been mowed and full of thistles and very open. we were a fair way away from the toilet which they say is a new block it was basically a porta loo with a porper flushing toilet and a hand basin they were not that clean and smelt maybe because it toward the end of season. For the money they charged washing facilities would be nice.
sharon (26th Aug 2012)
Response from Oakfield Farm
Yes, sorry we do not have mown lawns, this is a farm. Nor do we have 'portaloos'. The very furthest distance to our flush loos from anyplace is 125m. All other campers say the loos are clean and value is excellent
Thank you for our camping weekend last weekend.

We stayed as a small group of friends and the children (3 x 8yrs, 3 x 6yrs and a 4 yr old) loved it - milking the cow, watching the hay being flayed by the tractor to dry, and then the next day watching it be turned into the huge sileage bales and then be carted off, leaving them with a close up experience of farming and a huge field to play in.
Loved it. Thanks for a memorable weekend.
Isabel (19th Aug 2012)
We had a wonderful stay here - its peaceful, friendly & amazingly well run.
Anyone considering this site - please visit, it's quiet for adults & safe for families too.
June is so welcoming & relaxed - fresh eggs in the morning were a real bonus! :-)

Just a quick note to say thank you so much for a lovely weekend's stay. Oakfield Farm is a very special place not to be missed, and you made us feel SO welcome.

For those thinking of visiting Oakfield Farm- we strongly suggest that you do! Traditional campfires, lots of camping space, great toilet facilities and a friendly welcome provide the bedrock for a fabulous stay-away, whilst the chance to meet the animals and witness traditional hand-milking will be a bonus for any visitor- particularly those with children.

We had a lovely time and will definitely be back again to visit Pansy the Cow and the piggies
