We spent 4 weeks in Shetland this July, having 3 nights on Whalsay. Our campsite was on the Oot Ower Lounge pub car park. It had everything we needed, with EHU, shower and toilet and lovely loch views.
However, the outstanding part of our stay was the friendliness and kindness of the landlord and campsite owner, Ian, and the local people we met in the pub.
We could not have felt more at home or included during our stay. Whalsay is a beautiful place, but what sets it apart is it's greatest resource, it's people. A total gem of a place.
