Reviews of Point Of Ness

Beautifully located with lovely views of the island of Hoy and the town and harbour of Stromness.
Facilities at the site are very good (which include a nice lounge area) and the site warden is a friendly and helpful chap who always seems to be there when needed (he's also happy to dispense any tent spares he has available).
On the down side, pitching tents can be a challenge as parts of the site sit on an old herring pier so pegs only have, at best, a few inches of soil to bite into before hitting rock - this is where the warden's spares came in handy!
The site's exposed position also makes tents vulnerable to Orkney's (ahem) stiff breezes, which can also make pitching a challenge.
