This tranquil park situated on the outskirts of the ancient fishing village of St Monans is an ideal base for walking and exploring the local area. From the park, it is an easy stroll to the village with its 1st century church. Once inside be sure to look up at the ancient sailing ship suspended from the ceiling.
On the other side of the park is the recently restored windmill, which was used to pump the salt water into the saltpans for drying.
It's amazing to think that it takes approximately 32 tons of sea water to produce 1 ton of salt.
As well as exploring the immediate vicinity, which boasts the remains of a 16th century castle, there is direct access to the East Neuk Coastal Path and a tantalising salt-water swimming pool - perfect for a bracing dip.
