Reviews of Low Wray Campsite ( National Trust )

Its an interesting one this is. It could be outstanding, it has loads of potential, but its just not quite there yet. Its a national trust camp site and the guys who work there clearly don't have the interest in the place that an owner run campsite would have. Pitches are varied from "ok" to "outstanding"...dont pay extra for the lake view ones...pointless and on a slope.. The woodland pitches are very nice, if a bit rooted in places. They are well spaced so your not on top of each other. Worth it for the escapism in the woods. Its a good place to launch your kayak/canoe from. Toilets are poor..dirty, cleaning them at 8am on the 3 days I way there was a silly idea (really..8am... who would think toilets would be busy at 8am???). Parking isn't great there... but its ok when your in your tent (you don't park near your tent). I would go again..but its expensive compared to others within 15 miles.
