Surrounded by spectacular scenery within the Peak District National Park, Rivendale offers superb facilities for tents, trailer tents, caravans and motorised caravans in an area offering a combination of outdoor activities, cultural and historic interest that is unequalled by any other region of the U.K. Rivendale has a choice of hard-standing, all-grass and 50/50 pitches with 16 amp power in a sheltered, sunny pitching area. The central heated amenity building offers free hot showers with under-floor heating.

Alternatively, on offer we have Lodges and static caravans available to rent, as well as luxurious contemporary Bed & Breakfast rooms.

For those who want a camping experience with a difference, we have a number of timber camping pods and yurts, as well as a larger canvas yurt. All our camping pods and yurts have either a wood burning stove or electric heater, with access to our amenity building.

The club building offers a bar and restaurant. Walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice with footpaths leading DIRECT FROM RIVENDALE into Dove Dale, Eaton Dale, Biggin Dale and on to the Tissington and High peak Trails. Stately homes such as Chatsworth, Tissington and Haddon are within easy reach as are Alton Towers and Carsington Reservoir. Onsite we also have a trout fishing lake - stocked with rainbow trout and brown trout, accessible to guests.

Reviews of Rivendale Caravan Park

Very disappointed. Booked short stay to test out new tent. Pitch price twice the average campsite price so assumed it would be very good. Footpaths broken rock, hard on the feet and dangerous for children. Toilets were a long way from camping field, you must take a toilet if you have children. Cafe was slow service and expensive. Also they had CCTV cameras INSIDE the toilets. That contravenes human rights! I was in security services. Its not justified. You have CCTV cameras outside the toilets which monitor arrival and leaving so any incidents can be investigated. Some people dress or undress outside the shower cubicles due to the confines of a cubicle and the wet floor and were distressed when I pointed to the CCTV camera. Remove them immediately.

Stayed for 2 nights really disappointed with the pitch size, felt & looked like a car park space only had about 6 feet between us the other van which was next to us. Felt it was very overpriced £58 for 2 nights for what we got.

Had a good relaxing weekend on this lovely site, every thing was spot on the site itself very clean, the toilet was very clean and warm the underfloor heating made all the difference, plenty of hot water which was a blessing, the staff were friendly and helpfull, and plenty of places to take our dog for walks.

We have just returned after a relaxing weekend. We highly recommend this site, very clean facilities, a cosy bar/restaurant. The staff are a credit to the site, lovely people, friendly and polite. We are looking forward to returning soon.

I unfortunately got stranded attempting to make my way home back to Buxton, and by some miracle, the vary kind people at the Prancing pony aloud more then just my self to take refuge and shelter away from the harsh snowy winters night. I mean, even the snow plow got stuck attempting the hill! I can not thank these guys enough for the warm embrace, kindness and willingness to help there fellow man. I shall be singing these guys prases for ever more! an will definitely stay there again, (hopefully this time not under such bizarre and unforeseen circumstances).
5 star rating more then warranted!
Thank you ever so much and I can honestly say that, that night you saved my bacon! and the other guys who got stuck for that matter.

Thank you for your kind words, the staff were happy to help - all credit to our site managers who worked an endless shift - and your comments are what make our staff keep working them! We look forward to seeing you in less stressful circumstances.

Came across this site on the internet whilst looking for a short break somewhere not to far from home. We liked the look of this site as it had a play park for children and there was a pub/restaurant to have tea in along with it being close to many attractions. We arrived on the Friday evening and on arrival we told which pitch number we were and told to follow the 1 way system to find our pitch which we found very difficult as the map was not that clear, we had to ask another person not someone that worked there for help to which they did assist but commented that they also had trouble finding their pitch, when we eventually found our pitch we were happy with the location as it was both next to the park and the toilets/ shower block which always make a stay a little easier, however saying that my husband went into the toilets to find a puddle of urine on the floor, and later that evening went into one of the cubicles and there was a can of coke and tissue on the floor which was also there the next day and seeing as there was some sort of signing off schedule on the door this did not seem to be updated very often we appreciate it is probably the height of the season but felt this should of been kept on top of.....on the sat eve we went to the bar for a meal at about 5.40 as the poster stated that it was open all day and served food from 5.30, when we arrived we were told that food did not start until 6.15 to which we accepted and asked for a Copy of the menu so we could decide what we wanted....I went back up to the bar at 6.15pm to order our food to be told that there was no gammon as I had the previous nights menu, when I commented that you gave it to me I just got told " I told you it was last nights" my question why would you give out the previous nights menu to anyone ??? We ended up ordering 3 burgers off the specials board which I would like to say we're very enjoyable, just one more point I feel I should make is that we went there with a clean van and car and left with them both covered in dust as all the road around the site were covered in white type chalk stoning which comes up onto the car when travelling and other driving past .....

Very poor communication. After 4 phone messages left on answermachine and 4 ignored messages via their website and a verbal promise that someone would call me back, i heard nothing.

You can get a an early booking discount if you book on the phone, perhaps this is why no-one would answer the phone between Nov 2013 and March 2014.

Very bad customer service.

Sorry, but not one of the nicest places I've visited! Having dogs,it seems a very dog unfriendly site. Dogs must be just tolerated by the site as there are that many signs stating 'No dogs'. 99 % of us are responsible dog owners and do clear up after them. There is no 'Dog walking area' that I found other than open fields. A very dull, isolated site as difficult to 'see' any fellow caravaners with the very low lighting you have. Mixing and making friends is important. I gave it 2 stars as the site was clean.

Thank you for your review. Most of our staff have dogs and are well-disposed towards them. Dogs are allowed - In the café during the day. In 3 of 4 rooms in the pub during the evening. All over the park (except for the children's play area for Health & safety reasons and 6 pitches reserved for people who do not like dogs). In the Pine Lodges. In the Yurts. In most of the Camping Pods. there are 2 fields for walking dogs in plus numerous circular walks from the site. The low lighting allows people to see the stars without light pollution, but the pub and café have lighting and normally have a good craic going on with our regulars. Guess you could have been dull and isolated with them?
we turned up hoping for a pitch and asked to be put in the overnight pitch so we could get wifi ,very helpful staff ,great toilet and shower block ,now booking for another visit on the 27th very nice site

Thank you for your email. Look forward to seeing you again.
When I booked I was told that the family POD would not be big enough for 2 adults and 3 children therefore I booked a tent pitch for 2 nights @ £20 per night which I thought was very pricey. However, when we got there we found that the POD was plenty big enough and in actual fact there were notices up in the toilets stating that the POD would quite happily be big enough for 2 adults and 3 children. I complained but the receptionist/owner refused to refund me. The notices were removed from the toilets. I would not stay here again as I felt I was pressured into paying for something extra unnecessarily.

Thank you.
Just returned from our break at Rivendale. Beautiful place, but rather disappointed with the cleanliness of the toilet block and showers. These were dirty on arrival and one certain cubicle still had the same 'mess' in it when I left on the 14th August. There were cloths to clean and a mop for the showers (which no-one else seemed to use!)but the blocks needed to be cleaned at least twice daily in the height of the season.
The rest of the site seemed clean and tidy and the staff were helpful.
Shop did not seem to hold much stock, but trips out daily meant shopping could be done elsewhere.
Lovely area to stay in - plenty to see and do.

Fantastic holiday. The Pod was lovely and cosy, the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere on the site, very relaxed, and the fire in the very comfortable bar, just made it perfect. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you!

Rivendale campsite is a fantastic place to stay .It is well cared for and the wardens are friendly and very helpful. This site has got the David Bellamy gold award for the last ten years and this is the reason that the hedges and grass is not cut until the wild flowers and hedges have stopped flowering.I believe that by leaving the site in a wilder state it allows more wild life to be seen.We will continue to go to this site on a regular basis as everything it advertises is there.
Fantastic staff
Clean toilets
Clearly marked pitches
Safe and well cared for site.
Close to the tissington trail

Rivendale:-
We enjoyed our stay so much last year, we're leaving in a couple of days for another week there!
Personally, I couldn't fault the shower/toilets, clean, dry and odour free! Also, the security code on the door was an added bonus, meaning that only those 'in the know' had access.
The pitch sizes were great, ample room for a family tent and still plenty of space. I've been to many other sites where the pitches were so crammed in, it felt like I hadn't left London - but not so with Rivendale.
My recommendation? Go, you'll love it!

Decided to spend my birthday weekend at Rivendale with my boyfriend having never been before.
Absolutely amazing, and wonderful scenery.
The bar was excellent value for money. I found none of the issues with the toilets, rubbish, or shop mentioned by a previous reviewer. Toilets were cleaned regularly, no rubbish on site, and shop full.
The staff were excellent, full of local knowledge and even wished me happy birthday when I visited the shop towards the end of our stay. Brilliant time, thanks!

On the website it seemed like a well cared for site with lots of regulations and standards but we were very dissapointed throughout our stay.

1.Dirty toilets with no toilet roll in certain toilet cubicles, filthy shower curtain, toilet roll all over the floor, bins over flowing, hairs over the sinks and the showers pulsating hot and cold water out.

2.The site itself seemed very uncared for.Again bins were overflowing and the hedges and shrubs were not cut and the lawns not edged.

3.We felt the need of a warden would have been benefical when children were running around throwing plastic bags filled with water in the evening.

4.We were looking foward to a bbq when we arrived and we were going to buy some fresh, local meat from the shop which was advertised on the website. They didn't have any!The next day they did but there were frozen sausages with 50% pork.

There were a few other issues but I don't want to go on,we won't be returning but I hope these issues are resolved so others are not as dissopointed as we were.

Just returned from a great week at Rivendale. Very clean site with excellent shower/toilet blocks. Helpful staff and would recommend friends to this site. They even held a camping wedding whilst we were there. Thank you all.
