SORRY TO SAY WE ARE NOT OPEN TO CAMPERS IN 2019. We will post here when situations change. Thank you to all our supportive campers!
Small, friendly, very simple, back-to-basics camping on an organic smallholding, with great views over Carsington Water and surrounding hills.
Campfires allowed.
Compost toilets.
On sunny days a simple solar shower is available.
Two pubs serving excellent food and real ales one mile away via public footpaths.
Well-behaved dogs on lead welcome.
Stereos are discouraged and certainly shouldn't ever be loud enough to interfere with anybody else's enjoyment.
Seasonal organic salad, veg and eggs often available.
We sell firewood for £5 a sack. You can bring your own from home if it is natural untreated wood, no paint, preservatives, glues, nails etc that will pollute your air or our soil. We are sorry but for a variety of reasons you are NOT allowed to forage for wood on or near our site.
We are dedicated to managing our little piece of heaven with the natural environment and ecological sustainability very much in mind. We manage the site using organic and permaculture principles and have planted over 5000 trees in the last few years to create new woodlands and encourage wildlife and biodiversity.
If you can do your bit whilst here by committing to carefully use the recycling facilities we provide and by respecting and enjoying the peace and quiet and beauty of the local natural environment, we very much look forward to welcoming you.
If not, there may be other sites more suited to you.
We have some more out of the way corners of our site, accessible on foot, that may suit you if your are looking for more of a ‘wild camping’ atmosphere. Please ask/specify if this is of interest to you.
Adults £6 per night; children 5-12yrs £3 p.n.; under 5's free. Cars £2p.n. Dogs £2p.n.
Good local walks, and close to High Peak Trail, Tissington Trail and Carsington Water off-road family-friendly cycle trails.
ADVANCE BOOKING ESSENTIAL

FINDING US: We can be tricky to find, and most SatNavs send people WRONG so PLEASE PLEASE do take note of what follows to save time and frustration.
"Berry Wood Farm" has a flag correctly positioned on Google Maps so we strongly recommend you do a print off from this that catches the local detail.
Half a mile to the northeast of KNIVETON on the B5035 is a tiny staggered crossroads. Take the turn virtually OPPOSITE the sign for 'Standlow Farm', down a lane signed as "Unsuitable For Vehicles" (a blatant lie!). After a few hundred metres you will see signs for Berry Wood Farm.

Satnav users please note we are NOT on Stoney Lane in Hognaston!! Never have been, never will be.
Thank you

Reviews of Berry Wood Farm

Stayed at this little haven for just 1 night in one of the secluded camping pitches. It was absolutely perfect, the owners are committed to keeping it a peaceful and respectful place. Other than a lovely welcome and quick tour from Heather, I didn’t see a single person! If you’re looking for a calm, peaceful retreat then get one of those quiet pitches booked! (But leave a pitch spare for me - I’ll definitely be back!)

Absolutely perfect. 2 Mums stayed with 4 children, aged 3-8, for 1 night. The view was beautiful and the site was so peaceful. The composting toilets were very clean, no smells, and the children were fascinated by them! We felt happy to let the children explore the campsite. Wonderful ethics - wish there were more like this!

My wife and i stayed here for 2 nights at Berry Wood Farm and we loved it! It was very peaceful and everything we wanted was there. It had fantastic views and the owners were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble! Highly recommend this site for anyone looking at camping!

Just spent a night at Berry Wood Farm with our two young children and had a fab night! It's quite tricky to find off a tiny side road so an up to date sat nav is helpful but because of this it's quite isolated which means beautiful pitches overlooking uniterupted views of Carssington Water and the rolling hills. Being able to cook dinner and even our breakfast on a proper campfire was wonderful. Site owners are lovely and super helpful getting wood water and eggs delivered to our pitch :)

I will second all of the above reviews. Fantastic campsite with very clean compost loos and a solar shower. Great views and very friendly owners who don't spoil the experience by trying to overfill the lovely space they have.

Great low key site with amazing views over the lake. Fires allowed, which is a big plus, and very clean compost toliet and shower. The local pub at Hognaston does excellent food. Owners very helpful and friendly. Hopefully will get chance to visit again.

Stayed here with some friends and its beautiful!
You really do need to track yourself on google maps to find it as its not signposted but we managed it.
Our only niggle would be the way it's priced, £ 6.00 per person which is great value if only two of you, when there's four it becomes the same as staying at a fully serviced site. We stay at another farm in the area for £12.00 per pitch for all of us with similar facilities, so that means we will probably always choose that site over this one when we want to do some quiet camping which is a shame as it really is a lovely place and the people couldn't be more helpful and friendly.
Would recommend to anyone, public footpaths from the top of the field for miles, great views, compost toilet is very posh! Will return when it's just two of us x

Great camp-site with excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Allows fires which is always a nice feature when camping and combined with the remote location and the stars above gave an excellent atmosphere. Owners are great and very considerate and the nearby pubs are happy to accept dogs and muddy boots if you get tired of camping food.

I stayed for three days with a few friends and had a great time!
It has the most beautiful views and with a compost toilet and solar shower it's close to being back to nature with the benefits of being able to wash properly.
It's a very peaceful place and we could often hear the ducks quacking as the wondered around checking out our tents which was lovely.
The people who own it are great! Very friendly and they even gave us some of their duck eggs for breakfast on our last morning which was so lovely!!

I would highly recommend the place! :)
