Reviews of Suffolk Retreats

My wife, 4 year old son and I stayed in one of the Yurts for a week and had an absolutely lovely time. It was a real escape from the city and as soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by Brian and Julie.
The yurt is very well kitted out and on the one day it rained it was a lovely place to be and it gave a real sense of camping, but in great luxury. It is kinda cheating, but when you get in there and jump on the bed and see how much space there is you wonder if you will ever be able to camp in any other way.
We spent the days walking in the countryside and there is so much to do that is a very short drive away. A very beautiful part of the UK and we look forward to returning.
Oh and the hot tub each night with a beer or glass of wine (juice for the boy) is a real treat...as are the horses, bats, dog and reindeer!!!
I would highly recommend a stay here, you won't want to leave.

I am unsure of the words to describe how amazing this weekend break away was. The facilities were the best i have seen for glamping and the scenic area and the hospitality were of a high standard. We hired both yurts and the Granary out for the weekend for 21 people. It was extremely spacious and the amenities were lovely, everyone complemented the shower blocks and the games room and grounds of the property. I would advise anyone to book this as a weekend break. Just lovely pleasurable environment, completely unexpected and i have fantastic memories from my stay... oh and the pictures do not do the place justice... so much better in real life!! :)

Me and my partner go 'Yurting' every year and Suffolk Retreats is by far the best we've stayed at. The toilet and shower rooms were modern and spotlessly clean and the games room is a very generous and unexpected treat. The yurts are very spacious and although it was just me and my partner you could have easily fitted another two adults in comfortably. We'll definitely be back again!

We recently stayed alongside another family the two Yurts available and had a wonderful time. I can honestly fault nothing about the experience. The yurts and shower block were extremely clean and spacious. The attention to detail is high through out and the freedom the owners give you to explore is fantastic. My children loved feeding the animals and the games room is great extra.

I would highly recommend to families looking to try Yurting and we are already talking about how soon we can comeback.

my wife, I, and our 3 children stayed in a Yurt over the holidays, i could go on for a while as to what a fantastic set up, Brian and his family have acheived here. from being greeted well upon our arrival, and Brian showing us the great little games room for the children, the reindeers, and best of all the yurt!

we are not used to camping in the slightest, so opted to stay in a yurt and we were not dissapointed, it was a beautiful and cosy place, stunning iron beds, oven, and family dinner table, there was plenty of room, and even the window at the top allowed us to fall asleep under the stars, even at night we went for a nighttime walk around the huge grounds that Brian and family own, with torches in hand, the kids were on an adventure, and during the day time, we visited the zoo, chilled out by the supplied Barbeque, and in the evening visited a nice little pub up the road called the Plough. a perfect, chilled, family break. cannot recommend this little gem enough!! thanks for your hospitality, and will see you soon. Paul and Family.

Just returned from a magical stay in one of the yurts. I honestly couldn't fault a single thing - the booking process was speedy and personal, directions were spot-on and we were met on arrival by Brian and Jake-the-rather-lovely-dog. Brian showed us around and made us feel really welcome. I got the feeling nothing would be too much trouble if we needed anything. Wood for the stove was included (it was unseasonably cold but as others have said, the yurts are toasty warm within 15 minutes of lighting the stove). My two children quickly made themselves at home feeding Rosa the donkey, the four miniature ponies and the two reindeer. When they could tear themselves away, they played frisbee on the lawn, went looking for rabbits or made use of the games in the games room, which were all included. The toilets and shower block were spotless and beautifully decorated - I had been expecting something far more basic, so another pleasant surprise! We visited The Plough (pub 15 minutes walk away) for dinner - very good meal at reasonable prices, and good choice for children. When we came back, we toasted marshmallows by candlelight before finally turning in for a comfortable night's sleep. My children are literally begging me for a return visit... I foresee another trip before too long!

We had a wonderful stay at the yurts just after Easter. It was bitterly cold outside, but the yurts were gorgeously warm and so was the well equipped games room. The kids loved roaming around and petting the animals and we even managed to barbecue! There were lots of thoughtful touches which made our stay really comfortable and easy to pack for. We are looking forward to returning.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Suffolk Retreat Yurt over the easter break, and although the weather was damp and the nights were cold, inside the yurt we were toasty and warm. The hosts have gone to every effort to make sure the decor inside the yurt is warm and inviting. There were three of us staying inside the yurt which had a comfortable double bed and a fold out futon. All the necessities for cooking a meal are provided and there is a lovely old pub about 15minutes walk away. The surroundings are really lovely and although the site is on the some grounds as their home they made sure our stay was secluded and private. The extensive gamesroom would be ideal for young families. I would definitely recommend the yurt for an alternative camping experience with the added touch of modern luxuries.
