Indoor girl finds comfort in outdoor luxury

Signing up for the most luxurious options at caravan sites could convince even the most reluctant camper to try such a vacation.

Writing for the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press, Sarah Cassells described how she and her husband were able to enjoy the "beauty and serenity" of campsites in Lake District areas, despite her general lack of enthusiasm for sleeping outdoors.

She explained that they opted for a top-notch caravan that offered them all their beloved home comforts, while allowing them to stay within walking distance of Ambleside.

Cassells revealed that they got hugely excited about some of the wildlife on show and were also able to enjoy a sound night's sleep, leaving the couple thoroughly impressed with their "executive apartment in a caravan costume.

"I'm an indoor girl. When it comes to holidays I like flushing toilets, proper beds and electricity. It's a source of mockery among my friends who spend weekends at campsites across the UK and Europe extolling the virtues of the great outdoors," she added.

According to Travel Daily UK, VisitEngland is predicting the popularity of "glamping" and rural holidays in general to rise next year, which could mean more people choose the luxury option when heading for the countryside.

This interest is being stoked by a £3 million marketing campaign by the tourist board, which is looking to drum up further enthusiasm for UK holidays - or 'staycations'.
