Camping equipment storage dilemma inspires community project
The dilemma regarding how to store camping equipment without having much space to play with has prompted one man to set up a community project in Brighton and Hove.
Shaff Prabatani needed to find space to keep his camping gear and winter clothes before upgrading to a larger home, yet the price of commercial storage options seemed prohibitive, reported theargus.co.uk.
He asked neighbours if he could pay them to look after his belongings and ended up paying half the price, so he set up Storemates, which allows people to rent out areas of their house to other people in their community - ranging from whole attics to just a cupboard.
Mr Prabatani said: "I was amazed. Fifteen people contacted me offering to store my stuff in their lofts, garages, spare rooms, even under their bed. This was the first time I had contact with my neighbours, who were all wonderfully helpful."
Anyone who is think of putting their camping gear in storage until they next want to use it may want to think about some cleaning tips to make sure the equipment does not get ruined.
According to outdoorsmagic.com, people's post-camping kit care routine should include drying the tent, airing sleeping bags, washing up cooking utensils and checking gas levels as well as other supplies. The website suggested these tips will help make the next camping trip less stressful.
