Look What We Found Food Pouches

It's not every day that we literally salivate over a product we get sent to review. However, this is not an average piece of camping equipment!
Although we're big fans of campsite cooking, there are times (such as when you've arrived late on a Friday evening and it's pouring with rain) where having a 'tastes like home' meal that could be ready in only a few minutes would be a major hassle-reliever. However, 'great taste' and 'easy to prepare' are unfortunately usually mutually exclusive.
And that's where "Look What We Found" comes in. They introduce themselves as a small team of people are passionate about great tasting food that doesn't need a fridge, is all natural and as good as homemade. They produce several different types of meals that are packaged in pouches approximately 150mm x 200mm in size. Each pack is a generous single portion and contains the entire meal. This is nothing like your average throw-in-a-pan pasta sauce!
The pouches can be easily stored and have a long shelf life (approximately a year), so are perfect for stashing in your camping equipment store or campervan.
So that's the general principle... now, as they say, the proof is in the eating. And these meals most certainly prove themselves! I sampled the "Fellside Beef Casserole" for lunch and it was, in a word, delicious.
As I had a microwave available I used that to heat up the meal, although it's as easily done in a saucepan over a gas stove. That was the extent of the required preparation! The pack suggests eating it with a nice chunk of bread and I duly followed the suggestion. It was a marvellous combination, with the ale-soaked beef simply melting in my mouth. The potatoes weren't at all soggy (something I've experienced in other pre-packed camping meals) and the whole thing tasted like it had just come out of the slow cooker. Incredible! The other flavours that I haven't yet sampled include "Gloucestershire Old Spot Pork Meatballs with Butter Beans in a rich Tomato Sauce", "Mushroom Stroganoff with hand-picked Scottish Mushrooms" and "Fellside Beef Chilli con Carne".
All in all, this is a great little timesaver that isn't limited to camping. The meals would make amazing lunches and dinners, especially if you're only cooking for one or two people.
And now to the price. The meals range from £1.99 to £3.29 each, which is not bad considering how incredibly tasty they are. It would get expensive to have one for dinner every night, but as that's not their intended purpose, they offer very good value for money.
This is a highly recommend addition to your camping equipment, for planned or unplanned use. The meals are available directly from the "Look What We Found" website.
