Akebar Park in North Yorkshire

It was a few years back since we stayed at this camsite and can see from the other reviews nothing has changed! At the time we stopped for 2 nights and the cost was over £50 for a tiny tent. It is still to this day the most expensive site we have ever stayed on. For this price you would expect higher standards, unfortunately everything on this site is bottom standard. The toilet block was the dirtiest I have ever seen on any campsite ever! They then hav the audacity to charge for hot water. I ended up using a whole back of baby wipes to clen one of the bathrooms before I would let my kids use it. As soon as you put the money in the water in the bath came hurtling out and wouldn't stop The floors were filthy and covered in frogs. The ceilings and corners were covered in cobwebs and muck. As for the toilets... which I'd taken a bucket! When we complained we were told it was because it was busy and it was the campers fault not theirs!!! I have been on busier sites that have spotless facilities. Noise all night on the site with groups of lads drinking and shouting. It's also a very telling sign that on other camp review sites. Akebar have requested that reviews be removed! Never again!

We stayed here for the first weekend in September and were very impressed. Large pitches, there was plenty to do on the site, the log fire in the restaurant was lovely to sit by on an evening...as it wasn't the warmest weekend! Were hoping to go back soon with the children.

The camp site was over priced £108 for three nights, it was so over booked the tents were on top of each other. We also had to pay for the showers, there was not a lot on the site for the price it was poorly lit . Also with the site being so crowded it was a nightmare for the showers toilets etc which should have been cleaned more than once a day.

We chose to return here after having had some lovely stays here. This time we were shown to an area where the grass had not been cut. The grass was cut up to about quarter of the field we were staying in. We were charged the same price as those who had the luxury of camping on the mown grass and our car almost lost its exhaust. The toilets were disgusting this time, lack of toilet roll and floors were filthy. This campsite has seriously gone down hill and it will be a while before we return to it again. Very disappointing.
