The British composer Edward Elgar, master of the Kings music, was born just outside Worcester in Lower Broadheath in the Malvern Hills. He is buried in the Little Malvern cemetry and the Elgar Enigma statue can be found in Malvern.
Worcester is home to Royal Worcester porcelain. The factory closed in 2007 after 258 of trading. The Royal Worcester museum is on the factory site and houses the world\'s largest collection of Worcester porcelain. The collections date back to 1751.
The famous Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce was first sold at a dispensing chemist in Broad Street Worcester. It is still produced in Worcester and the recipe has been a well kept secret for many years.
Malvern is a town in the Malvern hills. Theses are a range of hills dominating the surrounding countryside and villages around Malvern. The hills, an area of outstanding beauty, are known for their spring water. At their highest point, parts of 13 counties can be seen and the cathedrals of Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford.
Redditch is a town and famous for being the centre of the needle and fishing tackle industry. At one point 90% of the worlds needles were manufactured in the town. The Forge Mill needle museum depicts Redditch\'s industrial heritage. Models and illustrations show how needles were made and used in the textile industry.
Bordesley Abbey built in the 12th century, is now an archaelogical site, and many excavated items can be seen in the visitor centre and museum at the site.
