Our yurts are real Mongolian gers that we import from Mongolia. They are hand painted with decoration similar to canal boats. We aim to furnish each yurt as individually as possible - and we are constantly adding things - large pots of night scented stock on the decks, some new books, a pretty lamp from one of Amanda's car boot excursions. The style of the yurts is an eclectic mix of Mongolian, ethnic......and good old Ikea - but the emphasis is always on comfort so you will find lots of cushions and throws to snuggle into, a communal basket of ponchos for chilly evenings and a large box of spare wellies and coats in case you've forgotten yours.

The yurts sit on large wooden decks furnished with chairs, tables, benches, bbq's and some have chimineas and fire pits. They are waterproof and have a thick white felt lining so they are amazingly warm and the large crowns let in masses of light and are covered with a removable rain cap so you can see the stars on fine evenings. All the yurts have two doors - this has several advantages - you get two views, you can always enter and exit the yurt away from any prevailing weather and it's a good fire escape (not that we hope you will ever need to!).

On the floor of the yurt is coir matting with decorative rugs on top and they all have wood burning stoves, with fire guards if you want one - these completely surround the stove and we have 2 cots available at a hire charge of ?£5. There is a highchair in each kitchen. Each yurt has a kingsize bed and a mix of day beds, cabin beds and futons. We take safety seriously so there is a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher in each yurt.

As well as the campfire (wood supplied) a boules (petanque) pitch has just been put in, a wood burning pizza oven is at the planning (and collecting old bricks) stage and we recently milled lots of big chunky lengths of timber so the collection of benches and tables will increase very soon. In time we would like to sponsor local artists to create a sculpture trail and long term we'd like to replace all the Ikea items with locally made furniture and fittings.....but now I'm getting ahead of myself.

Extra people - the yurts have beds for 5 or 6 though some have double futons or 4' wide day beds so can fit two children, but we tend to count them as singles because they are too small to be comfortable for two adults. We are reasonably flexible on extra children - although with the proviso that if you squash in some extras on the floor then it may mean that you can't use the woodburning stove as bedding near the stove would present a fire risk - best thing is to give a ring to discuss.

We don't mind if you have day visitors - especially if you are under occupying your yurt - but our car park takes only 10 cars and because the facilities are shared then it isn't fair on other guests if one yurt brings in too many guests. Each yurt has car park space for 2 cars - if you need to bring more cars please let us know in advance so that we can make sure we have space.
