Breathtaking scenery, hundreds of historic sites of interest and of course the world famous Jurassic Coast all make camping in Dorset a perfect option whether you want quiet 'down time' or an activity-laden family holiday.

You could pay a visit to the Cerne Giant, high on the hill about the lovely village of Cerne Abbas. Over 180ft high, he is believed to be an ancient symbol of spirituality or possibly representative of the Roman god Hercules.

Alternatively, you could find a campsite near Dorchester and visit Maiden Castle, an impressive 6,000 year old fort from the Iron Age.

It would be most unfortunate to camp in Dorset and not visit the impressive Jurassic Coast. 95 miles of the coast were awarded World Heritage Status in 2001 and is truly one of the geological wonders of the world.
