Arundel is a market town in the South downs. The river Arun runs through the town. Arundel castle is a restored medieval castle. It is the principal seat of the Dukes of Norfolk. Most of the castle and its extensive grounds are open to the public.
Worthing is a large seaside town. The town has many parks and gardens and it has one of the oldest cinema's in the country. Oscar Wilde lived and worked here.
Brighton is a city and a very popular seaside resort. The Royal Pavilion was once a royal palace. The architecture is that of Indian style and the interior is of Oriental style. During the first world war it was a hospital for injured Indian soldiers.
Bognor Regis is a small seaside resort and one of the oldest Saxon sites on record. George V went to Bognor to convalesce after a serious illness. It was given the title Regis (of the King) in 1929. Butlin's holiday camp was first opened here in 1960.
Hastings is a tourist destination and most famous for the start of the Norman Conquest - the Battle of Hastings. next to the pier is the Conqueror's Stone, where William is said to have eaten his first meal in England. The ruins of Hastings castle stand on the West Hill. The construction of the castle is depicted in the Bayeaux Tapestry.
