Reviews of Stroma View Caravan & Camping Park
This was our 1st visit to this site and would definitely go back when in the
area again. The owners were very friendly and helpful. This site is small -
there are no marked pitches and you can park just about anywhere you like so
long as you're more than 6 mtrs from the next unit. It's a tidy site comprising
a level gravelled area surrounded by grass; there are sufficient electric
hook-ups.
Shower and toilet block was clean, tidy and (unexpectedly), heated. This site is
basic and has no playpark, but there is a dog-walking area at the back of the
site - which was useful.
Although situated on the main road from JoG to Thurso there's hardly any traffic
except for 5 minutes when the Orkney ferry at Gills Bay (1 mile) comes in.
Price-wise it cost £13 per night (inc. elec) for two of us and a dog
- probably the best value for money in the area.
To summarise; Friendly site; good location; good stopover for tourers or for
those travelling over to Orkney from Gills Bay. Not much to do on the actual
site, but plenty to see in the area. Two good pub/restaurants within reasonable
distance (Seaview Hotel - 1 mile east & Castle Arms - 5 miles west).
