WINNER OF THE 2011 WESTMORLAND GAZETTE BUSINESS AND TOURISM AWARDS "PLACE TO STAY" CATEGORY.
"A truly magical experience" is how some of our guests have described staying in one of our Yurts. Situated right in the heart of the Lake District on the National Trust Campsite at the head of the Great Langdale Valley, you couldn't ask for a more idyllic location.
Surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery the Lake District has to offer, come and experience 'living in the round' for yourselves and enjoy a unique holiday in a unique environment.
Long Valley Yurts offer the perfect combination of back-to-nature living, without compromising on all the usual luxuries you would wish for on your holiday. Spacious with comfortable beds, warm duvets, cosy wood burning stoves and lanterns, this really is luxury camping or 'Glamping' as we like to call it! Ideal for families and friends, come and experience a holiday with a difference, one you never forget.
The yurts provide and an excellent base for fell walking, rock climbing, mountain biking or just relaxing. Overlooked by the Langdale Pikes and with views towards Crinkle Crags and Bowfell, this site is a spectacular location for exploring this dramatic area of the Lake District.
What is a Yurt?
Yurts are traditional circular dwellings from central Asia that have been in use for thousands of years. The traditional yurt is decorated in colourful materials, handmade rugs and carpets. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter the yurt itself is supported with solid wooden trellis walls and has at its centre, a crown or Tono (ornate 'roof wheel') to further strengthen the structure. Covered with a thick, watertight covering the yurt keeps you dry and warm in any weather.
Our Yurts
We have two yurts each is 18ft in diameter and sleeps up to six people comfortably. There is a standard double bed and four single beds. We provide freshly laundered cotton sheets, pillow cases and duvets.

Each yurt has it's own uniquely Moroccan feel. You can also expect the following facilities;
* Wooden floors
* Thick colourful hand made Moroccan rugs
* Wood burning stoves with an integrated oven
* Solar powered interior lighting
* Solar powered interior fairy lights
* Comfortable futons and bedding
* Moroccan lanterns
* Decorated, colourful Moroccan throws and poufs
* Fully equipped and functional kitchen with all the things you are likely to need for 6 people to dine with
* A games chest full of games and books both old and new
